This project is for a friend's Wavemaster case that I really should hurry up and mod since it's been sitting for months. Most of the PSU modifications are done, but I'll post pics of it later when it's completed. As far as the window goes, it's basically the same as my PC-70's window. It's been cut and needs filed, but first it needs to be a little larger so more pics of that later. First, here's pictures of some of the "stuff". The LCD isn't shown since the one that arrived had the wrong colour backlight. 5.25" Bezel for the LCD - front plate will be replaced with proper CoolerMaster Some 80mm white CoolerMaster LED fans The same fans as my slimline fileserver. Here's one powered on Two 12" white cathodes Cathodes powered Globalwin 520w PSU Layout of the window Handy for corners Still roughly cut - needs filed/sanded Another view of the window That's all for now. No explaining the plans, only progress as it happens
looking good so far, so that drill attachment for the dremel whats it for? like etching type of stuff? like could i cut a complicated design with one, on a steel side panel? I wanna do a dragon but its pretty complicated, is it like a pencil? how do you know which cuts metal?
That is gonna look great. The white on aluminum inside always looks amazing. Nice simple but clean window. Badass case to start with.
It's for cutting. It can be used to cut pretty complex designs but I used it for the curved corners. I still think a smaller bit would have left a much cleaner edge with less need for filing.
It's the same shape as this project. There are better pics of that shape in that log, but I will post more once I increase the window size.
Whooo another ouija project! Nice work so far! I'm assuming the LCD will be white? Can they do that these days? Or is it blue, like the PSU? Also, what's with that drive bay cover? There is some sort of film around the hole, the entire thing has another layer of clear film on it, and the right tab thing looks like it is bent in to the inside at about 130 degrees. Is it made of cardboard, or are you metahuman enough to bend it in?
hehe i thought it was a stacker not a wave master hehehe so would all the bits cut metal or what? can it cut through steel?
Derelict: The PSU will look even better when it's finished. Wrigley1: No comment on the LCD or PSU The LCD bezel has a protective sheet on it and the bulge at the back is the pack of screws that comes with it. The leg isn't bent, it's just the perspective of the shot. Bboy_Jon: Yes, the bit will cut steel. You use the 90° attachment on the dremel and drill in like with a normal bit. Then you can proceed to cut in any direction keeping the bit perpendicular to the surface. Pretty handy cutting bits.
ouija I've tried to use the same Dremel accessory and bit to cut a slot into a perspex sheet, but the result was not so good (melting and rough edges). Can you give me some suggestions about that tool?
Hmm... it's a shame they don't do smaller or finer bits. Are you using any lubricant when cutting? I'm going to give that a try next time I use it.
No lubricant.... and I think they don't make finer bits just to avoid some noob-like-me break the bit at the first cut!!!
I would try a slower speed and cut gradually. Plexi will usually melt when drilling/cutting and dry on the bit which makes it even harder to cut with. Maybe try using water or something to keep it from melting?
so ALL of those bits will cut metal? theres not some that are just for wood or something? the psu is awsome
