    how come not all graphics cards are compatable with directX 9? what does directX actuly do?

    Ok, I'll use the annoying little smily :search:

    But really basically all graphics cards will be compatible with DX9, as in they will work fine with DX9 installed. The question is do they have the hardware to support all of the advanced shaders. It's like asking why dosn't a 32bit CPU support 64bit operations. It dosn't because the hardware isn't there.

    ok, is there anyway to tweek a none DX9 compatable card to work well with DX9?
