He did think he sold them to purchase a single 1280x768 TN panel as his 3x580 couldn't handle the res
Would an ati HD6970 be enough for playable frame rates ? ---------------------------- Intel Core i7 930 @ 3.8ghz | GeForce gtx 460 @ 800mhz | 6 gig corsair xms3 tripplechannel ddr3 @ 1600mhz | raven rv01 case | watercooled 360 rad 40c load temps | gigabyte ga-x58-USB3 mobo | Logitech G510 gaming keyboard | Logitech G700 gaming mouse | Razer Goliathus Extended Control Edition mousepad
Yes, I run a single HD6970 @ 3560x1920 and it can push ~35-40fps in BF3 at a mixture of medium / high settings. (Online, 64 player, caspian border). You won't be pushing big FPS or very high settings but games are perfectly playable. You also avoid any microstuttering or other issues surround CF and Eyefinity. Your sig is also wrong, you have it setup as part of your forum reply. There is a section of the User CP that allows you to enter a sig (like mine).
Fixed that for you. Yeah lol. No, I have 3 Dell U2212HM at the mo. Just wanted to see if the smaller pixel pitched made games more ultra ultra-sharp, compared to the IPS231P-BN. All I can say is, it made bugger all differences lol. As a comparison of the 2 monitors, I can't see any differences between the 2 when it comes to ghosting/input lag, which is not visible to the naked eye. So I would recommend the LG IPS231P over the Dell U2212/U2312.
Yeah ok, I'm used to having medium settings high doesn't really matter the immersion factor is the most important thing Sorry about that I use tapatalk on my iPhone and I don't get much time on the desktop version, I'll take it off
Seems like a good place to jump in.. I also have a 6970 (well OK a 6950 pretending to be a 6970) water-cooled with a bit of an over clock is giving me nice smooth game play in BF3 with all the settings turned up, 1920x1080 and this screen: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/monitors/2010/01/07/nec-multisync-ea231wmi/1 Got my first ever bonus this month! I feel like giving eyefinity a go and can't decide which three screens to go for, any recommendations would be welcome. I accept I may need another graphics card to keep it all smooth. Has anyone found 3 in a row too wide?
3 in a row horizontal? For FPS, yes I found this way too wide. BF3 also has a very odd FOV which makes the peripheral monitors VERY stretched. You can probably change this but I couldn't get on with the overall width so didn't investigate any further. Whatever monitors you go for, make sure they can be rotated. I have found the perfect 3 screen setup in a PLP combination. My middle monitors is in landscape mode being flanked by 2 monitors in portrait mode. I game on the central screen and have the outside screens for wiki (say in minecraft) or forums / videos etc. Portrait Eyefinity is also fantastic. It basically feels like a very big monitor with a great overall FOV.
