Few years ago when I was at uni I got XP Pro for £10 and Office 2000 Pro for £10 and they were both fully legit and still running to this day on my machine.

Most university computing departments can probably beat this offer but for those in other faculties then this sounds like a very good deal.

Hmmm. I think it's just your friend's computer. I'm running it on a laptop with a Pentium 3 M @1.2GHz with 768Mb RAM and it seems fairly snappy to me. I obviously can't have too many things open at once given the spec of my laptop, but I've had no trouble doing my Maths and Stats coursework. (And now it seems I can go legal, which is nice)
Students in the UK probably want to go here: http://www.theultimatesteal.co.uk/ - the site linked to in the article seems pretty focussed on US students.

Works fine for both of you, but doing what kind of work? When my complaint arose, I was doing a spreadsheet with about 2500 collected data points in each of ten sheets, all open at the same time and referencing each other. When it came time to graph that data, it was almost unusably slow. Doing the same thing in 2K3, we had no problems.

I couldn't find it myself. There is a £5 option to enable you to download it later, but no option for a cd. Bit of a shame really.

yeah thats all i can see too...

    1. Purchase a Licence (Perpetual or Subscription): Upon purchase, you’ll be provided with a genuine Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 product key.
    2. Download Office Ultimate 2007: If you don’t want to download, you can also order a physical DVD during the purchase process for a small charge.
    3. Enter Your Genuine Product Key: Use the genuine product key to activate Office Ultimate 2007. If already installed, you can still enter the product key.
    4. Enjoy your cool new version of Office Ultimate 2007!

Is on one of the other webpages tho, point 2 being the bit in question...

i dont get the £5 to be able to download it later either? Whats the point of paying for a permenant license if you cant download it again after a year normally...

Joking aside, I think you'll be surprised. They've actually completely and totally changed the UI, and I have to admit that once you get used to it it's quite a bit more efficient than the old way.

    Hi,

Has anybody else done this yet? How long are emails with the product key in taking?

My brother paid yesterday and still hasn't had an email with the product key in it.

    Thanks

    Nick

Didn't take long for me at all. However, I believe you can find the product key when you log in to your account on the website to check order status.
