    Hey guys I need some help in purchasing some new headphones for at work. The noise gets to me at work and makes it hard for me to concentrate so I use headphones. Right now I'm using some $5 Wal-Mart specials and I've decided well since I sit at this desk for 8 hours a day im going to at least have some decent headphones. So I need some suggestions. I'd go with Bose but there I think I'm just buying the name, and I think I could prolly get some headphones that are just as good for half the price. So if you guys could help me decide on what headphones i should get, I'd appreciate it very much.

    Thanks,
    CandyMan

    I'd say no more than $100. Sorry I forgot to put that in my first post lol.

    What sort of headphones are you looking at (ie. open or closed, inear or overear, large or compact?)?

    I was going to make some recommendations, but in truth all you really need is: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/ (use the forum search)
    (beware though, if your not careful things can get rather expensive :thumb:)

    I use Skull Candy with the 50mm drivers. They are wearable for long time and have good bass if you are into that. Plus they will go louder than I care to listen to but they have an inline volume control.

    You can see them here on my last desk;

    I'd like to recommend the Denon D1000/1001 or Audio-Technica ATH-A700/500, but they're both a bit over your budget. If you can stretch $10, I would highly recommend picking up the ATH-A500 from AudioCubes.

    edit: I would definitely avoid SkullCandy, as they will sound like cow turds on your ears compared to some proper headphones. No offense meant to jhanlon ;)

    I own the older SteelSeries circumaural headset (basically this except in black), and they're fantastic. I've had a hard time finding them these days - they're on and off of Newegg, currently off - but they do have a slightly more expensive version in good supply that I've heard nothing but amazing things about.

    And of course if you can pick up a good pair of Sennheisers for somewhere around the $100 mark, you'll be extremely happy.

    Perhaps a JVC harx700 or harx900 would work if your on a budget?

    Huuuuuuge thread on them that seems to be very positive of them as budget alternatives here
