Cooling Heatsink for Core 2 CPU

    I'm looking for a decent and easy to install (Don't really want to remove my motherboard from the case) heatsink. I'm currently using the supplied Intel one which isn't to bad on the niose and installation front but is not the best cooler in the world. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    I have just installed an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro. It has simple push pins, so all you need to do is remove the old heatsink by rotating the pins, clean the processor and stick this one on. It comes with its own pre-applied thermal paste which seems to work ok.

    It has dropped my temps by about 12C (CPU) and 4C(MoBo) but I have found it a little noisier, although I haven't yet adjusted the PWM control for it.

    EDIT: and it only cost about £17

    I've got the Asus P5B and have moderately overclocked my E6320 to 2.5.

    Another vote goes to the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Well priced, good cooling and quiet.

    I'd get a Zalman 9700 if I were going to get one...not much more and tons better...I love mine and installation is a breeze...

    My vote goes to the Arctic freezer pro too, I have the 64 version, for an amd only difference is the mounting bracket, and have never had a problem with it.

    Scythe Ninja can go in fanless if you want, or attach a fan to it for really nice cooling. It is more pricey though

    well to me the intel heatsink works great, my e6300 idles at 28C and maxes at 38C.

    I have a thermaltake maxorb. easy to install, no force required when putting the pushpins in. not that expensive either.

    friend of mine bought the maxorb by thermaltake got great results.easy to install cheap and reasonbly noisy when fan on max rpm...

    Have you actually used many Zalmans? And how can a heatsink be inefficient, anyway?

    you could also try the asetek vapochill micro... its on par with some watercooling kits (koolance exos-2 and aquagate mini), cools surrounding areas of the mobo, and weighs only 355g with the fan

    the Zalman 9500 is currently the most noisy component in my PC while gaming........ i would recommend Freezer Pro 7 or a Tuniq Tower 120
