I would recommend Acer AL2016WB, which is a 20" widescreen but cheaper; for full details and price see: http://www.it247.com/Product/183-ET.2016P.031/Acer_AL2016WB_flat_panel_display_TFT_20.htm If you wish to spend more than twice as much for a 24" widescreen, I would recommend Acer AL2416WA; for full details and price see: http://www.it247.com/Product/183-ET.F16WE.A02/Acer_AL2416WAs_flat_panel_display_TFT_24.htm
You seem to be asking for 1600x1200 all the time, can I ask whether you want a widescreen monitor or the standard one? 1680x1050 = widescreen (16:9 ratio) 1600x1200 = not widescreen (4:3 ratio) I would most definatly go for widescreen since you can push the menus more to the sides, although a higher resoultion at a 4:3 ratio would give you more of a workspace, although everything will look a bit smaller.
well im after a aspect of 4:3 as my screen is a workspace, i use 3D studio Max and having square windows to use makes life easy. below is a screeny of what i use, having a screen of decent size to i can see what i am doing! lol! so on a screen that is 16:10 the windows will be retangle not square. Another question is the new screen has to have a height larger than mine 17'' screen. show in the pic below. (thats not my screen above.) i want the red arrow to be greater than 275mm for my new screen. i hope that makes sense?
After looking at the pictures you posted and the info above, I am inclined to believe you will not be better off with a wide screen. Hence a more "square" screen should serve your purposes better. for greater than 275mm height, you are talking about more than 11" screen height. 20" Acer AL2017 1400 x 1050 (4:3) will give you 15" height! It costs around £140 incl delivery. You can see full specs here: http://www.it247.com/Product/183-ET.2017P.002/Acer_AL2017_flat_panel_display_TFT_20.htm You can buy a wide screen 22" BenQ FP222Wa (1680 x 1050) that will cost you around £190 but although wider, the screen height would be less than that above at 13.75" - see: http://www.it247.com/Product/3445-9J.03V72.AVE/BenQ_FP222Wa_flat_panel_display_TFT_22.htm For your purposes, the cheaper (non-wide screen) option, with bigger height should be the best choice....

that is the better screen i think, but its pushing my budget hard. Does anyone here use CAD app's on a wide screen?
Aha doesn't have to be that screen though, now we know 20.1" is a good size we can see what else is out there, or anywhere than can be had cheaper EDIT: http://www.itcsales.co.uk/acatalog/20__TFT_Displays.html Like this
Get a wide with pivot so you can turn it 90 degrees and have even more square.. squares Nah I get your point, shame the 1600x1200 TFTs are so pricey.
i guess there's dreaming for a nice screen but at the end of the day its what the wallet allows. i was just looking at 24'' WS and there expensive! really expensive!!! so a 22'' WS may be better as i do like watching my vast DVD collect and i still play the odd game in my old age... as soon as i am working 9 to 5 again il get a sweet set up!
I must have missed where your top end budget was burnout lol, yeh i am a bit baffled as to why wides are cheaper but there you go!
The price of what you have quoted above is around £200. If burnout21 found the 20" at £140 too expensive - how does that help? As for burnout21's enquiry - I think he'll have to decide what he really wants before we are running around in circles, yesterday he said: today he is saying: Talking about old age...
my top mark is £250 i think, i have yet to earn the cash for it! lol! i was after a 4:3 screen with a res of 1600x1200 but they are seriouly over priced!
In that case, you may find LG L2000C 1600x1200 20.2" at £251 (incl VAT and delivery) more in line with what you are after - it would have 15" height too. See:http://www.it247.com/Product/26-L2000C/LG_L2000C_flat_panel_display_TFT_201.htm Wish you luck and hope you'll afford what you need soon...
well just over the £200 mark i have found a 22'' screen with DVI and 16.7M colours with 1000:1 contrast ratio. It isn't slow either with a 5ms response. I have had IIyama before and was very pleased with there performance, but that was a CRT back in the day! lol! http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(15448)22-Iiyama-Prolite-E2200WSB1U-Wide-screen.aspx Another thing is it is completly black, so it will match my 'Sharp LL-17C3B' i love this screen, but its showing limitations and age, still it will be the second display, and iiyama as primary. the look of the iiyama is perfect for me as i love the 'sleek professional' look to my gear. I have a Lian Li V1000B water cooled but with stock look, no flashy lights and s***! As soon as i have the screen i will take some pictures of the setup! have to wait 2 months What do you guys think?
i looked at the Iiyama when i was looking for a 22" monitor but i was told most of the 22" were all using the same panels and the only thing i needed to choose was whose badge i wanted on it so ended up buying the samsung 225bw. altough this was being discussed an another thread and the newer samsung 226bw has a 2ms response time
