I just recently bought two sticks of 4gb ram, and my motherboard will not let me use the full 8gb. It currently only enables me to use 3.96gb...

I've been reading up on how to remap on bios, but it does not have a remap function on the gigabyte bios =S, I'e also tried Msconfig and maxed out the memory useage and it still didnt work; it justs reverts back to normal.

I am on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and my specs are in my siggy.

If the BISO option "Extreme memory profile (XMP)" set to Profile 1?
Try boosting the voltage slightly by 1 level of your RAM, see if that helps, if not, return it back.

Open msConfig, go to the Boot tab, and click on the Advanced options.
Make SURE that NO check boxes are checked.
Click OK, and see if it helps.

Do you have the latest BIOS?

In the BIOS, select "Load Optimize Default", and set back your SATA controller mode to what it was.
(IDE for legacy OS like XP for compatibility purposes, AHCI for modern OS like Vista/Win7 that have native SATA support)

Make sure also, in the BIOS that HPET is set Enabled HPET Mode set to 64-bit (I think it's in the power management section)

If that doesn't help, try boosting by 1 level QPI/Vtt from. If that doesn't help, put it back

If all faisl, then it could be that the motherboard doesn't like the RAM, try different RAM.
