I have a old dell p3 im making my linux project to kill time it has a 450mhz processor I got a 600mhz processor from my buddy and I put 640mb of ram in it

the processor fit fine booted right up said "p3 600m" on startup then after about 10 seconds of running it shut down with the fan still running it overheated so I pulled it out it was hot as hell

how do I upgrade to the 600mhz processor or can I not? it has alot smaller heatsink then the 450mhz thats in it now

    thanks
