Yep. About the same as ocean liner... I think the steering angles are delibertly shallow to avoid fowling the wings and wheels on the chassis. My three point turns will certainly get better with all the practice!

Mostly me, getting used to where the clutch bite point was, and the fact that I was sat on a cordless drill case that was sliding a little on the cockpit floor.

I don't think the mic on the camera was coping very well either, with the wind and the camerawoman...

Nice work! Cars looking great - can't wait to see the finished paint job.

We'll just keep quiet about the lack of plates / insurance / tax for driving on the road yet!

 

TBH, compared to what I see some of the kids go up and down our road in or on, the Sportster is more than road legal.

Amongst other things, I wasn't doing Warp 3, like most of the locals. And my brakes work, unlike the unfortunate who hit a lampost round the corner not so long ago.

Its its one and only run before I take her for her MOT pre IVA - it'll only be on the drive from now on.

Fuse panel wiring is top notch. The modders will yell "Cable Management" Very nice start and the two indicators taped to the dash? is a good down home touch.

As you've seen from the sneak peak photos, I've done some more wiring, and built a centre console.

But I've also sorted out the dashboard since last time:

Where is the PC and 7" touchscreen going?

 

Nowhere. The only tech going in the car will probably be an amp for running an ipod off, and a 12v outlet for charging a sat nav.

Besides, a PC? Moi? Hmmmm

 

Good work again GOO. Are you going to be heatshrinking some of the more visible cables?

Classy idea with the screen demister.

 

All of the cables will be loom taped together at some point, and those that are currently visble will get hidden under boot lining / carpet etc.

 

Have you considered a burgundy flock finish for the dash instead of vinyl? I'm just thinking incase of glare...

 

No, not really... I hadn't really considered it. One of the other builders has a cream vinyl dash, and it doesn't cause him any problems, so I didn't really think a darker colour would be any worse...

I guess I won't really know until the windscreen is in after the IVA test how much of an issue it may be.
