I've a cheap plastic Casio, went through a full wash & spin dry cycle in my trouser pocket, came out in perfect working order. Why should I buy an expensive watch?

The movement in a watch is everything inside it basically, the battery holder, the integrated circuit, the quartz resonator, the stepping motor etc.
Miyota is a company who make cheap rubbish movements by the millions. They are in most makes from £1 Rolexs you buy on a beach to over priced watches. Most designer watches at several hundred pounds have Miyota movements inside them!

At the end of the day though a G-shock is still a Casio. A plastic cased watch (mostly) with a mediocre movement. Poor servicing backup etc. I would not want to spend hundreds on one.
A swiss watch though, like some of the titanium Tissot watches... well worth a few hundred. Sapphire crystal glass (unlike Casio), ETA movement (unlike Casio), Parts available for atleast 40 years plus (unlike Casio) etc etc.

i'd go with Animal again too
titanium aswell, just cos its awesome :p

i managed to pop the strap out of the body of the watch once by dropping it from 6ft onto a tile floor, landed in such a way that it bent the pin that holds the strap to the body but animal fixed it and replaced the glass that got a little scratch for a few quid
great watch, great service, would buy again!

i dont think they make mine anymore tho, 'model 031 titanium edition'

In 40 years time we won't be wearing watches; the time will be piped direct to the brain, along with google results and DRM-free music. It is foretold.

Never says what we'll get given, or what we'll find, or what will open.

    Indestructible watches hrmmmm...
G- Shock. I dropped mine from a 2 storey building one once. Still working now. Now I hate it cause it does not break.
The Oakley Blade 2 seems cool. Check it's description out at the oakley site.

Buy a £20 watch. You won't worry about scratching it then.

Junghans does ceramic watches (yup, that lighter-and-tougher-than-metal stuff) with sapphire crystal dials. Not particularly meant for contact sports, but bears up well to daily use.

buy a cheap ok looking watch for £20 to wear day to day, it'll last you a few years, even if it only lasts a couple years you can get 20 of them for the price of some of those other watches so you wont care about scratching it.

Plus if you still want a smart watch from time to time then buy a seperate one to wear where there is no chance of scratching.

Get a watch with a sapphire face. I've got a seiko with a sapphire face and no scratches for 1+ years. I'm not sure how it was stand being knocked around but it's a kinetic and still looks very nice after daily use for over a year.
