This is the thread devoted to how I'm cooling Mithril, from setups to how I build the blocks to what kind of temps I get.

I should also introduce my new assistant...

This is Gabby, otherwise known as Cat Face ('cause she's got a cat face, and the body of a cat and the face of a cat...) or the Meow factory, for her constant "talking" (hence the real name) and her "brrr-rrrreow?" sound. This is what I'm told not to set ablaze with the torch now.

This is the first pic I have of my preliminary cooling.

It needs to be cleaned, and I have a new top in the making for it, but at the moment it's serving beautifully. Rev 2 will clear the cap by the bottom right stud so that I can crank it harder.

An internet if you can ID the block it was originally part of.

AquaComputer Cuplex XT Di clone. For when you have copper, a vise, and time, but not 130 bucks plus shipping.

I think what I'm gonna drop into it will be a real crowd-pleaser, too. Yes, into it, not it into.

    ?!!?!?
It looks like you hand forged it. (If you used a vise, i guess you really did.) I thought you would cast the copper like what you were planning with the silver.

Copper traps oxygen while liquid. You end up with a very porous casting.

Nah, this will clean up further, and then it'll start to look ok...

That sucks. I'm glad someone told me now. How about brass? I've been stockpiling brass for a long time now. I'd hate to cast a pitted pile of crap, (some day.)

In testing, this will be replaced by poly when I prove it functions.

There are three layers of acrylic epoxied, and then the bottom is silicone "o-ringed".

Maybe I'll have some time tomorrow to sort pressure testing.

If that woudl work that'd be an awesome idea! I go through a few thousand rounds of .22 ammuntion a year. Lots of brass there. Melt it all down and scrape all the inpurities off the top and youre good to go. Well, it works like that with lead. (hmmm, how would that be for a waterblock? not too good huh? I get lots of that aswell)

Love this homemade waterblock stuff. It's so cool.

Kayin, is the block really rough or is it just that you used a flash on your camera? Hard to see all the details. Maybe try long exposure and no flash?

    Very awesome nonetheless.

I'd love to melt down aluminum or such and just cast a complete computer case.
