I just replaced a switch on my Filco. I was kinda pissed when I saw the Majestouch 2's switches are soldered to the board whereas the 1's are merely clipped on. It made the whole process a bit harder.

I'm stoked it works, though !

    Bought a Gigabyte Osmium :)

I've tried a few sets of switches before and thought I'd be fine with Red switches, I liked the almost analogue way you can use the wasd keys in games and didn't really give much thought to actually typing with them. As it happens this year I'm writing my final year project which was another factor in finally deciding to shell out. When the keyboard came, I'll be honest I was largely unable to type on it. The actuation of the red switches is so light I was pressing switches just by brushing against them and the different spacing meant I was missing alot.

I've had a few days now to get used to it and I'm making less mistakes and generally able to type on it to an acceptable level. I'm not sure I'm consistently up to my previous speed but I've definitely come to like the lightness of the switches. It certainly feels that my hands are more nimble as I type, because I don't have to bottom out the keys. I've also found that now whenever I use a normal keyboard it feels meh. Everytime I come back to this it's just better :thumb:

Generally pretty pleased and hopefully with all the typing I'll be doing this year I'll be lightning fast before long.

I've only ever had good experiences with CCL to be honest so I'd give them a go personally. OCUK sell some sets but not that one unfortunately.

Did you run the full purple set or leave some keys black. Luckily when I bought the k/b 2 years ago I went with white LED's so it should look alright !

Time to start clearing out keycaps. I will be selling Penumbra, Cream Cheese 'n' Green, possibly a DSA Retro Set and some Red Alert caps. Before I list them over on GH, anyone got any (potential) interest in that little lot?

Is penumbra SA profile? If so then colour me interested depending on what you've got exactly (and the price lol)

Would the DSA Retro Set fit my Noppoo Choc Mini, with its oddly-spaced bottom row?

Good question. I'll dig out a pic of the Nopppo and will have a look. It's got the Tsangan kit (7x space bar, 1.75x and 1x mods etc) plus the numpad, too.

EDIT: The answer appears to be a likely 'yes':

That is, however, pending me checking what size the space bar on the Noppo is. That said, the standard space bar would work I should imagine?

FURTHER EDIT: Yes, I know that's not a Noppo, but it's a similar layout ;)

The answer to that is maybe for most of the keys but definitely not the space bar unfortunately

Do you know which revision you have, Gareth?

EDIT: NVM - found the f/s thread. I reckon the only issue you will have will be the spacebar, necessitating the use of the standard Noppo space bar. This is less of a problem than you might think, as the space bar in the set isn't DSA profile, anyway. I can muster some images tonight if you are interested?

Aye, that'd be appreciated - although I probably shouldn't, because I'm brassic at the moment! Very, very tempting though - lovely-looking things appealing to the vintage enthusiast in me!
