Running a tri SLI setup, I would only use watercooling, due to the heat and the space between each card. Otherwise the top card runs hot, the middle runs extremely hot and the bottom one would run cooler than the other 2, all depending on space in your case from the bottom card to the bottom of your case.
If you don't, you will have one hell of a noisy case (Hairdyer territory!!).

(If only people really knew what it's really like to be running an extreme setup, and the true costs involved...)

Apparently the X79 VRMs run rather hot, with the reduced airflow resulting from having watercooling rather than a huge fansink on the Processor; That could make a fair difference.

Hence my suggestion that the VRM's be Watercooled as well.

HDD's are happy so long as they've got some airflow. I read somewhere the 30 degrees is prime operating temps for a Hard-drive. Memory only really needs a bit of airflow too, unless you're running 1.65V 2133+mhz stuff overclocked to the point of madness.

So primarily, the key things you should be looking at getting under water are: GPUs, CPU, and VRM circuitry.

True_Gamer's PC is a prime example. He's got everything hooked into a Phobya 1080 Rad (At last check, might be a different brand, but it still carries 9x120mm fans.) and it all runs remarkably cool. Even though it's all overclocked to the point some people would start considering Ln2.

Hah - He seems to change displays every other month!

Been through 6 x IPS monitors and a 60" TV since about March.

    I'm waiting for the 3 x u3011 setup. ;)
