Just updated drivers, and I've lost NVidia control panel. This has happened before, and it suggested I download it from the MS Store... a pain, but only took a second, so (shrug)... However, this time, I can't download it, and when I check "system requirements" I get this...

The drivers are on and working... this is just control panel.

I've looked for solutions, and most say you un-hide it in control panel... but there's nothing in control panel. The associated folder in C:/program files/Nvidia Cporporation are not present either. I just don't have it, and cannot download it. Any hints from anyone who's been here?

    Thanks

I've had this problem before, you've accidentally downloaded and installed the studio driver, you want the game ready one. it used to be hard to tell them apart but they've since started labeling them more clearly.

I'm pretty sure I've not... I'll DDU the driver and start again to be sure though. Thanks.

DDU'd the driver while in safe mode... downloaded it again (definitely the GRD driver) and same problem persists.

Just thought I'd see if installing the studio drivers fixed it, but there's no studio driver available for a GTX900 series card... Grrrr... this is driving me mad.

I just DDU's the drivers again, and downloaded the ones from your link, and it's exactly the same.. seems to be the same driver.

Yep... hosing everything out. It's a bit crap when you have to roll back to an older driver. I'll try that though.. thanks.

Pookey...just incase you haven't, and its often overlooked, this is my procedure for DDU.

    Download latest Nvidia drivers
    Download DDU
Disconnect from internet to save Windows pulling down it's own drivers
Run DDU, let it restart the PC
    Install latest Nvidia drivers
    Reconnect to internet

I've found if you dont disconnect from the internet Windows can and often does pull whatever driver it feels like from the net and that's when you run into problems installing the latest Nvidia drivers.

Fingers crossed it works for you ^

I tried that. It installed drivers, but there was no option to install Geforce experience while offline, and also... it still didn't work. The driver always installs perfectly.. no issues... it's just the lack of nvidia control panel that's the problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.. appreciate it.

i think i know whats going on, i think windows is installing the DCH oem driver upon first start up kinda like how vista would store and install a local driver from its driver store, DDU it again but look for the option to disable windows pulling down and installing drivers, then install afresh

I've had that but usually what happens in that scenario is that you get an error message when trying to install the drivers from NVidia. Pookey has the NVidia drivers installed, he just can't find the NVidia control panel.

Edit: TechPowerUp did an article about it but I'm still not convinced this is Pookey's problem.

OK.. sorted. I had to track down a non DCH driver, which there is... just hard to find. It's the latest one.. just non DCH. I got it from 3DGuru's website. file name "442.50-desktop-win10-64bit-international-whql.exe". NVidia control panel now working, with no stupid need to go to MS Store. I hope I don't have this hassle with every driver update from now on!

    Thanks everyone.

Aha, so the DCH driver was your problem.

I have got into the habit now of installing Win 10 without a GPU installed and letting it get everything installed and sorted, then downloading the driver from NVidia, unplugging the internet, fitting the GPU then installing the NVidia driver. The DCH problem was a ballache when I first got it so I just do it this way now.

That said, once you have a *real* NVidia driver installed, future downloads and installations from NVidia should work as intended.

    Looks like it, yes.

No integrated graphics, so not an option for me I'm afraid.

    Lets' hope so!

    Thanks again all.
