Just one last thought on chipping. I could only imagine providing you don't use it for generally illegal activity or copied disks, that it would be illegal for the soul reason that XBox is a patented device as a whole and quite possibly that would infringe upon such a patent. Usually this is a non issue if the modification is not used for illegal activites and its on a non retail level. But then again usually it just voids any warranty and such.

But This seems like something to do. Wonder if there is any way to use software or possibly hardware to splice the output of the xbox into the computer via a digital signal for tasks such as playing games in a window in microsoft or more likely linux due to freeware abilities of linux. Maybe it has been done but it is a cool idea to me. WOuld give me a reason to consolidate them both.

I have firmware on the chip that doesn't allow copieed games.(I asked for that).
In Belgium it is not illegal to chip your x-box. Playing copieed games is.
But I only use it for the XBMC.

I hope we can stop the whole modchip discussion. because I don't want this threat closed. I worked to hard on this case.

small update about the new hardware.
I bought this hardware 6-7 months ago so backthen it was 'high-end'
because my µatx MSI ,northwood 2.0 and my gf5700LE were getting outdated.
I made a litte roadtrip to germany (200km) because they only have 16% taxes on pc hardware.
    so the new hardware:
    enermax noisetaker 495

    msi p4n sli

    and 1gig ddr2 pc 5400 corsair xms 4-4-4-12
    [IMG]

    asus 7800GT
    [IMG]
cooler has been changed. first a zalman 700
    [IMG]
now I have a actic cooler accelero X1 (love that thing)

    intel 660 (stock speeds 3.6ghz,2mb l2 cache)
with a arctic freezer 7 pro

    than some more modding.
I liked my stacker alot. the styling is very good. But there is one thing I didn't like at all.

as you can see in front there is a black plastic piece that almost touchs the ground. But it is only a few cm long. and after that you can see the case feets etc. :miffed:

so I made took the saw and made this.
all 4 mm high (because I didn't have 8mm anymore.
    but some industrial glue
    [IMG]

    an you get this (blury)

than I took a 5 mm drill bit. and made some holes for led's
    first test with UV leds
    [IMG]

a few days later I bought the green leds I needed.

If you went onto Xbox Live theres a 90% chance you would get Banned from things like Bungie(Halo/Halo 2) and poss even Xbox Live. Go onto www.bungie.net and try and find some "wambulance" its where those who have been banned have emailed bungie, its really funny to read, when you can find it.

    Sam

    P.S

Looking good though, the case im talking about :D

If your stupid enough to go on x-box live and not disable the chip, you deserve to be banned

Or you come to me with one or 100 w/e. I would like one. Can I get one that will let me put a raptor in my Xbox no the WD unit though. Not mean enough...... Jk but seriously this is kick ass now if I could just figure out a good way to incorporate an xbox to run in windows.

then I wanted a difference between the pc-part and the x-box part.
So I made a mirrormod (don't have pics of the process sorry)
I engraved my nickname (SAIKO). I only had a blue ccfl for the first test.

    first letters
    [IMG]

    finished

then I bought somme modding stuff.
    - 3 uv green sata kables
    - green ata cables.
    - green ccfl
    - 2 uv green 80 mm fans
    - 1 uv green 120mm fan
to change the blue once from before.
I also sleeved the psu some time ago with a uv green kit.

last pic from mirromod with the right ccfl

Nice mod looks pretty sweet, but you do know XBMC is illegal dont you!?!? Its built with the MS Xbox XDK by an unauthorised team therefore the binaries them selves are illegal. So wether or not you are playing illegal games you are still breaking the law. The only chance of using the mod chip for legal reasons was if you run binaries compiled with the OpenXDK framework. And thats if you werent breaking the law in your country just for owning the chip!

Move away from the legal side of it guys.

I cannot see any screenshots to say that any illegal activities are being commited.

    BACK TO TOPIC:

I like the plexi, where did you get the mirror sheet?

it is not plexi. It is a real mirror. So it is glass.

no it is a real mirror and I engraved my nickname in it.
because of the ccfl beneath the mirror the engraved letters light up

because my case looks like this
    [IMG]

and an x-box looks like this
    [IMG]

I needed to make some changes.
everyone who ones a stacker know that is a solid case.
well a solid case seems to have more than 100 revets that I had to drill out :waah:

I used the paint tutorial from my site :D

    putting the case back togheter

    and adding some green accents.

its hard to take a photo witch matches the real color.

    then the hardware back in

    and that's it for today
