Is this the first? I just came across this website showing flexible display technology from HP and Arizona State University:

    http://www.oled-display.net/hp-and-arizona-state-university-demo-flexible-displays

Use a little imagination and you'll realize there are all sorts of uses for this kind of technology. For example cell phones with screens that roll up inside the phone and expand with the push of a button (same for laptops). Or how about electronic wallet photos that automatically change. This could lead to another cycle of "miniturization" of all technologies where displays are a primary component.

Seems to me what's really is lagging behind in the area of portable technology is power. Everything that's portable requires a battery that drains rather quickly. Some sort of technology that allows systems to have long-lived and self-contained power sources would be true leap .

Lets hope we start seeing more extreme revisions of displays like the one in the images below very soon:

Isn't that a hybrid monitor? DLP tech with OLED tech. It's not a pure OLED monitor.

I'm pretty sure it's just 3x LCDs I'm not sure how the radius was achieved.

    Google - "Alienware Curved Display"

Looking at other angled photos, it's a curved projection TV. woohoo :wallbash:
