Motors the first step to a pimpin' car install is complete - its arrived

i jsut bought a head unit

blaupunkt new york - teh pimpifed (ok its 2nd hand but they were retailing for liek £800 & this one is forma fellow car audio nut so i knwo it will be in good nick (& has lots of cables )

jsut gotta wait for him to recieve the cheque till i get it

I think the new york is larger than standerd DIN size although I am not totally sure.

 

yea im jsut waiting for the cheque to clear before he sends it on as ive only been a membre of that forum for a few days


ive not even seen one in a picture but they are supposed to be bloody good

& i drive a 306 that ahs a slightly larger din anyway (due to the curvey bits)

well taken by the smart card security on it tho

well if it dotn fit it gives me a excuse to re-model my dash

/me dreams of 10disch changers & eq's integrated into the dash liek OEM kit

 

Whelllll now... That would fit noicely into my Durango, as it is Din and a Half... not standard Din... Good luck installing if it's not a din and a half already in there, it's a BIT-CH to get them into smaller spots.

but trust blaupunk to do things differently, i have a sub out, a aux in on fly leads (proprietry plugson hte back of the unit) a input for the tuning mic, plugs for the speakers

but no pre outs (ah well when i add a amp any reputable dealer will knwo how to wire it up) but at leas i have a propper sub out (save me messign with eq's)


& its shineh

 

ah well im gonna have to go back to the dealer that installed it

as the fascia is catching on the adpater when ti trys to move forward or close when laodign cd's & it skips

 

expect it to get stolen. We had 4 head units stolen last year.

If you don't have pre out you can use high level speaker to low level phono converters.

This is what people used to do years ago.

I am sure Sam knows a decent alarm is a 100% requirement when you have a aftermarket audio system.

Before I had a alarm, part of my first install was nicked over three years ago, I had a very nice £280 Ultrasound alarm/Imobiliser installed that day and I have not had any problems since.

 

i finally worked it otu & there is a fifferent lead that plugs into the proprietry sockets on the back to give me pre outs

the only problem si htey aint installed my aux in connector (cant use it yet anyway)

but it annoys me that the fascai si catching when ti try to oepn so im off back there

 

grr its blown two fuses in 2 days

its alwasy the radio memory fuse

now do you reccon my isntaller ahs it pullign all the power from that feed?

 

I havent heard to many good things about blaupunkt ive got some speakers from them..(acutal My brother bought them ) They sound alright but have givin me tons of problems...
