The good lady was surprised and extremely pleased with the new laptop although I got a telling off for spending laptop money on her.

She was happier to know I got a good deal. She loves a good deal.

Now to find time to move her files and personalise it in her random way for her. I did ask if she want everything moving or start afresh - everything, otherwise she'd have to sort through it was the answer

This nearly went in the "What's ruining your life" thread but fortunately not.

Managed to pull off a stoppie in our little Deutz tractor while moving muck from a field to the pile, no damage done but came close to needing a change of underwear. I need to remember several things, 1) the rear 1050Kg weight pack was bought for a reason (I had been delivering hay to the cows in the field with a bale in the front loader and 2 in a grab on the rear so nicely balanced, however on the way back it seemed more efficent to grab a load of muck and not comne back empty).
    2) the tractor doesn't have overload and out of balance alarms like the telehandler,
    3) The cat will almost certainly get out of the way of the tractor.
    4) adding a little extra job for efficiency isn't necessilarly the best ideal.

Now time for a cup of tea

None as yet, unless you mean the car :p

Ha. Didn't even notice, and it took me longer that I'm willing to admit to work out how you worked that out >.>

    Despite this:

And despite: having to queue to get in even an hour and a half after the doors opened; the terrible sound quality in the Motorpoint Arena; the absolutely packed hall; and my other half getting pelted with most of a pint of Strongbow by some dickheads behind us... Slipknot were fantastic. Even though I've been listening to them for over 20 years it's the first time I've seen them live, and it was well worth it.

But srsly though, the sound in Motorpoint Arena is ****ing awful. It's always been bad in there but last night I didn't even recognise some of the songs at first. I've been going to gigs in there for over 20 years now and in all that time the sound has been ****ing dire. But it's the best we've got. Slipknot could not play in a club to 500 people, it would be absolute carnage, but at the same time I don't think they would fill the Principality Stadium with ~50,000 people. Motorpoint is a good sized venue (5000 capacity) but the sound is absolutely dreadful.

Next time tho we're getting balcony tickets. I'm getting too ****ing old for packed crowds, crazy mosh pits (saw one kid covered in blood and looked like he'd broken his nose), being elbowed and shoved out of the way by people going to the bar/for a piss, etc... I'm there to enjoy the band and enjoy the music, not to get tossed around like a bead of sweat in an aerobic teacher's buttock cleavage.

OMG - is Texas really looking to become an independent (Nation?) State...?

There is a group dedicated to doing exactly that: The Texas Nationlist Movement https://tnm.me/

I wonder what @Cheapskate thinks of it?

    You called?
There's always been people that want to be a republic again, serious and in jest.
Honestly, We are turning into Mexifornia from all the people flooding in from the places they wrecked. Property is getting bought up by full-blown corporations for rent houses, which made property values triple. It's too late to build a wall around Texas.

Interesting - got me having look: California has a bigger GDP than the entire UK and the last stats I could find place Texas above South Korea and Canada.

    Puts things into perspective.

That aside... I can't see the rest of the USA being too chuffed with needing a passport to get into/out of Texas...

It's bad enough - over here - with Cornwall "wanting independence" (they have done for a long while, at various levels) from the rest of the UK. Heck; there's one bridge out of Cornwall that charges you to go across/get out as it is... not to get in; just out.

Calexit is a thing too, albeit again only to a limited and (currently) unrealistic extent.

    The car I can do! It's a MK1 Focus, so not as cool as a classic escort or something, but this is is my Imgur dump for all things focus related;

My 2700X arrived yesterday - now a fully paid up member of the Ryzen club and the rig has a brain!

Now gotta get through the rest of the long night (aka January), recover through Feb and then in March drop the last bit of cash in an SSD and we can get fired up for the first time. :D

A weekend with old uni friends. Going to watch 1917 and have a few good meals at night. During the day we lounge about and binge watch the latest series.

Couldn't ask for a finer bunch. Stuck together over the years and it's always great seeing them.

Birthday tomorrow. I'm off to Littlehampton for fish and chips. It's where they filmed the Inbetweeners scene in the boat and the fish punch.

Happy birthday for tomorrow, dude! Mine was on Monday... Grim month for a birthday (especially at the end of the month where EVERYONE is skint), but hey-ho, we made it into another year and it can only get better. :p

Yup story of my life. "We'd have got you something else but we're a bit short down to Christmas' :D

It also sucks because mum would take me to Croydon to get new trainers and you'd walk out of the shop ready for your debut and pose but it would be peeing with rain and no one would notice your shiny new trainers.

I'm early February, not great as a child but as an adult everyone has just been paid and is fed up after the Christmas lull and really fancies going out and getting drunk :hehe:
