:jawdrop: Very interesting indeed! But, perhaps a little too interesting to mention on a forum?

Nope - public job posting. Anyone can apply. Lots of jobs like this lately on Monster.com. Govt seems to be hiring even if private industry is laying off people left and right.
I got it from a former employee of mine.

Not a small thing - an EARNED thing. You rule the demote thread.

PS: You are ahead of me in rep with less than half the postings. Properly earned.

Getting my kitchen back, after 6 weeks. It has been a major project.

Basically, we live in a red-brick three-bedroom Victorian terrace built in 1889. The kitchen was an inch of concrete dumped unevenly on what was left of the original quarry tiles (thus ruining them thoroughly) with patches of bare ground, and some crappy silver (silver!) linoleum over that. Units were the most basic cheap things, wallpaper was woodchip. It was dirty and damp was rising through the bare dirt floor.

    The job was:
    1. Dig out the old floor, to 2 feet deep.
    2. Put in hardcore, insulation, membrane. Pour on proper concrete.
    3. Level with levelling compound, tile with slate. Grout slate and seal three times.
    4. Knock out interior wall and reconstruct a proper ceiling.
    5. Move doorway and make wider.
    6. Remove all wallpaper and old plaster.
    7. Remover old radiator.
    8. Remove old toilet in cloak room. Remove crappy stud wall and rebuild it.
    9. Open chimney flue and sweep. Measure and design extractor fan to fit cavity.
    10. Rewire all electricity in kitchen. Upgrade fuse board.
    11. Remove rotting back door frame and build reproduction.
    12. Build new door frame for moved doorway.
    13. Replaster. Paint.
    14. Insert new kitchen units. Move gas, water.
    15. Install sockets, lights, switches.
    16. Install new radiator.
    17. Install new toilet; new toilet door. Plumb in toilet sink.
    18. Install new back door.
    19. Install custom-made extractor fan in chimney breast over range cooker.
    20. Tile cooker hearth.

I think that is it... We're up to point 15.

Other awesomeness: getting the first steps towards a coherent cancer rehabilitation service in Birmingham going. Big things ahead!

Mind the wiring there nexxo. Have had some problems in the past at my place with shoddy wiring. Nothing like 115V to wake you up in the morning. (best part was, it came off the designated "ground" wire)

    Awesomeness of the day:
Clashing with another manager over "sarcasm in the testing documentation". What's Awesome about that is that the "sarcastic" bit ran home the message.
The whole bit is about a bug i picked up rather by coincidence, which they should have picked up.
I call this stuff "user training". I set up testing documentation so that people TEST the apps i make changes to. Them not finding a bug that constitutes wrong information is not testing

Is it sad to say my girlfriend? Found true love finally, after too much enjoyment of the 'single' life.

    That and borderlands! :p

otherwise the dissertation is looming over me, and all my assignments and exams! Eeek.

Got myself a new pair of shoes. I closed my bank account today (Tired of getting screwed over on a monthly basis). Bought some awesome lights from Ikea. Lighting is incredibly important to me. If it's not just right, I become depressed and have to do something about it. Paid off all my debts.

I also have a date with a girl who's been dying to see me all week. Wish me luck, hopefully I wont screw up.
