Don't forget, he was talking American Fords. EU Fords are far superior, and I'm not just saying that.

Most people in the States say the Focus is a POS, yet here it is still one of the best handling (if not THE best) cars in its class, thanks to its independant rear suspension. AFAIK that cost Ford Europe a lot of money to do, and I'm wondering if it has been omitted on the US models?

Here most Fords are reknowned for an all-round nice drive. Good handling, nice gearbox, good clutch. Certainly true for the Focus we used to own, my Ka, and the two new Mondeo's we've had.

Fords rock, some people just don't know what they're talking about.
You missed the underpowered Probe in that list :):D

Unfortunately for Ford, the only good things they seem to produce seem to come from Britain, Germany, Australia or South Africa. The GT, The RS200/evo, the RS500, RS1700i, The XR models, The mkI/mkII Escorts, the rest of the RS family and so on...

The new Mustang is quite possibly the most heinously ugly car in existance. An Austin Allegro would look like a Lamborghini Miura if you parked one next to an '05 Mustang.

On the left we have the Lamborghini Miura; one of the most beautiful cars ever conceived.

Then we have the Austin Allegro, widely acknowledged by many to be the ugliest spawn to have ever spewed forth from the communal womb that was British Leyland.

Between these two, we have the complete scope of how attractive cars can be.

Finally, the 2005 Mustang...Is that even a car?

fords in the states get a bad rep for one reason. The old ford taurus that was mostly a POS. The focus you guys like so mutch is just about the same car here in the states and frankly It is an ok car but here we can do better.

Ford also produces some nice work vehicles.

    F150
    F250
    F350
Econoline vehicles last 20+ years through heavy work.
Their vans are awsome especialy the trinitron v10

    then you have
    Towncar
    Crownvictoria
    Mustangs new and old.
Their new wave of economy grade cars are also very good.

    etc etc.

People are too judjemental about fords.... Thats why I like Chevy...but thats another discusion. GM in my opinion makes some of the best cars out there with cars that can hit close to 1million miles on original trany and motor as well as ford does.

And I think the new mustang is a good looking car but I think the old mustangs from the past looked better.

There is no reason to hate unless you experience a full range of cars and their purposes.

No offence but, in terms of chassis dynamics, fuel efficiency and so forth, what three/five door hatchback do you have in the same class (family sized hatchback) that beats it. The Focus is a good car. Ugly as sin but good at what it is designed for.

    Transit! :D

I know people with 30 year old Transits that have clocked up nearly a million miles.

I side with my dad with this one - He was a Ford man for decades - Escorts, Capri, Fiestas...Then he got a mkII VW Golf GTi and realised that he was putting up with cars that were fundamentally flawed: suddenly he had a car that didn't rust, didn't fall to bits, didn't need work on it most months...He's been a VW guy since.

Conversely, although I see the appeal of the older mustangs, I feel the new one isn't worth the tin it's pressed from.

    I agree - that's why I dislike the new Mustang ;)

See here in America Ford thankfully only gives us the worst cars like the Focus. I will say the new 500 is pretty snazy looking, but I will never buy a ford except for a Mustang.

Hell the BOSS 427 is one of my most wanted cars.

I was just about to drop all my hard earned cash on this baby

    1992 MR2

modified suspension, rims, body kit, intake, fuel injectors, turbo and modified exhausts

until I ran a carfax on the VIN number

the thing was in a major rear end accident and had a salvage title

needless to say I was pissed at the seller and sad that I couldnt have the car :(

Better being dissapointed at not getting it, rather than being stuck with a dog.

    Nice car though.

I expect most MR2's end up in rear ends. In the wet they are known to be a bit of a hand full around corners.

I don't have a car at the moment being a student and all but here is what is on the drive at the moment. My dad picked up the MR2 recently and it sure is nice to drive.

That was a couple of years ago, got used to it in the wet now :D
