As TekMonkey said, it was on display for show. And yes, the door does get in the way of the monitor. If I use the PC at home the monitor sits ontop of the ammo box. But, this PC is now basicly a show-piece for events, so I don't use it too much at home.
Now ZAP, i know the 64-51 FX project is supposed to be on "hold" but that pc to the right side of the pic, looks alot like the teasers...is this the big thing, or iam i just imagining things...also RED's pc in the back is a nice touch...
Hello Mr. Zap, I am amazed at your work. The flow and style in this box, plus the probably hundreds of mods make this the best mod I have ever seen. You have stunned me. Question: (it's a dumb but nagging one) Can you close the ammo PC with all the components inside and carry it around in any direction without it falling out? I couldn't tell from your photos/text.
The ammo PC can be turned any direction, and nothing will fall out or get loose. Yes, I can close up the entire PC, cables, accessories, tools and all into three parts: Ammo PC Accessories case and LCD Keyboard -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I put the mouse in a container, and LAN party tools in another. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- These two containers fit into the metal case. Along with the headphones, cables, CD's, Digital Camera, etc... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The LCD is in the lid of this case. I collapse the custom stand, and put a foam piece over the LCD -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only things not inside this case is the actual PC and keyboard. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the PC running veritcaly, which I can't do anymore with the new fan configuration -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The ammo case can then be closed and ready for transport. (The external LEDs can be switched over to a battery to keep the effect running) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The keyboard cable works like a shoulder strap, as it velcro's to the back of the keyboard in a loop. And that is it, the entire PC in three easy to move parts. Both cases weigh a ton though (I don't have an exact number)
Umm, let me see... The max height is about 2-1/4" (with feet down) But apparently this keyboard is very hard to find (In an english version anyways)
It looks to me like one of those microsoft "natural" (read: "Crap, I dropped the keyboard on the fllor and it broke, then I glued it back together but the keys didn't line up right so it's lopsided") keyboards. What separates it from one of those keyboards?
Finally , god forbid me to swear, but finally I complete this log... It is just amazing how you use your magic like that, truly truly great craftsmanship. One can only dream of being able to master that kind of skills I am bout to plunge in the media project so cya in a week or so, i saw it's even longer then this one
One more question: Can you remove the components as one large piece if you need to upgrade? If so, how does it lock in when you want to transport it?
To work on the PC, I have to disconnect the faceplate, remove the graphics card, then the rest can pull out the back as one piece. It locks with two pins that go in the handles and lock them closed.
Zap, if you ever come through Oklahoma City, and are interested, I can get you parts from military oxygen masks and chemical warfare protection equipment for a very good price (free ). For instance, the hose off of an oxygen mask could make a pretty good cable conduit.
Hey Zap, been meaning to ask you. You like that Laser-Cutter you won? Haven't seen ya mention it...was just curious.
for everyone that is interested in a keyboard that is like the one ZAP used in this project, i found this one when doing a search for usb keyboard on google....it is called the Macally ikey...do a google image search you can see it...umm, it comes in the "color" ice which is basically a semi-distorted clear base and the keys can be black or white...so, if you put some cold cathodes on the bottom, you will have an authentic ZAPWIZARD looking keyboard!!! I am unsure how to put up a picture, but i will put a link to one in this post.... image gone... and... image gone.... ok,there they are... [EDIT] I figured out how to put up pics also, the keyboard has a 2port usb hub on the side of it...an added bonus incase you dont have any usb port on the front of your case or if you want usb ports like on a laptop...for a little keyboard light or something...!!![/EDIT]
you like? zap, are these like what you used? [EDIT] well, i just looked back at the pics of you system zap, and the keyboard is all black, but wont this keyboard do semi-good for the cold cathod's underneth? ok, thats al i have to say about it! [/EDIT]
