Not sure which of Zap's KB's you meant. But Kensington :www.Kensington.com : has a similar one to the ones you posted. http://www.kensington.com/images/64350M.jpg None of those look like any of Zap's KB's I ve seen though...
i think that Macally ikey is meant for a mac there is one being used in the mac lab at my school it has video editing stuff on it tho i think zap has an ergonomic kb for the lighted one
No offence, but that is really nothing like Zap's Keyboard. His is an Ortek EKB-880 (http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=358193&postcount=6). The most similar thing I can think of is Microsoft's ergonomic keyboards. Oh, and www.microdocusa.com and www.drbott.de might have something to say about you leeching bandwidth from them - the rules on this forum are you must host your own images. Try a free image host like www.uploadit.org
I have seen those keyboards at CompUSA, and some of them are even made by Ortek. But they will not fit two 12" cold cathodes inside, so you would have to use EL Wire, which is not as bright. I want to build other keyboards like the ammo PC has, but the keyboard is no longer made. Of course there are the pre-lit keyboards out there, but most are tiny. But I just reviewed a model from Zippy.com that I like, it is near full size, and good for gaming. http://www.zapwizard.com/reviews/zippy
the ortek keyboard just rules i have one at my main rig und searching ebay for another one for my server. but i think i have to backlight one with ccs
ok, ok, it's nothing like zaps but i thought it would be pretty cool to show, and yes, i agree, i think it is for the mac.....so you can stop elling me that it isnt like zap's at all...and as for the forum rules, i will remove the links immedietly....
Backlit Keyboard Hi Zap , Do you think its possible to mod the backlighting and LEDs on the zippy keyboard to green instead of blue ??
http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?p=570324#post570324 - I would love an answer when you have the time.
Ya I figured that , My question really is can you obtain a Green EL and replace the blue ??? and if so where would you buy a green EL from ?? I kind of assumed it was a custon EL panel specifically made for this keyboard and not possible to replace . .
I don't know what it uses, you'd need to find someone who has it to take a peek under the keys. EL wire is pretty easy to get, EL sheet is more difficult but still possible.
Ya thats what I figured , but I assume that the EL is a Sheet made specifically to go around the keyboard switches . . . . Probably no green available but maybe the sheet can be replaced by the EL wire and get the same or similar affect . . . . . . Thanks for the reply Mick
Yeah, I would start at one end of the keyboard, run EL all the way across, then move it down an inch and go back across, like so: Code: --------------------- letters | --------------------- | --------------------- | --------------------- | ---------------------
Do you think the light spread from EL cable would be adequate ?? I havent actually seen this stuff in real life only on the internet . .
Well, the keys are translucent, i think it would diffuse the light rather nicely. Similar to the effect you get when putting a LED behind a frosted piece of plexi.
Sounds cool . . . Maybe I will invest in one and some cable and have a play with it . . Thanks for the input Mick
You've talked alot about the VGA to BNC cable you modded with the custom jack but don't most monitors now a days are svga and require extra wires for the monitor id features how did you get it down to ten wires and did you lose any features with the monitor or video card?
They have them, but do not require them. I just used the pure analog RGB and VSync and HSync signals. (And each has a ground)
A normal MicroATX motherboard. (1 AGP and 3 PCI slots) The powersupply is also a MicroATX standard supply, but compacted slightly by using multiple smaller fans.
