Maybe once Take-Two is done grilling 3D Realms over Duke Nukem Forever, Zenimax Media will scoop up Apogee Software too.

OH BOY, WOULDN'T THAT BE FUN.

I always get worried when people start talking about a class of games defined by how many As you can be bothered to type.

"AAA games" invariably means "console ports", which invariably means "a large pair of pants". On the other hand, at least it's a useful warning to avoid when people start on about "AAAAAAA+++ titles". What is this, bloody ebay?

Hmm, mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, all it could just mean id get a bigger budget. Meaning better engines, better games, better for everyone. Maybe this way they can put as much effort into the design of the games as they do the technology.

On the other hand, despite what Zenimax might say, parent company pressure is never a good thing. It always boils down to overly commercial, poorer quality games. Something that jumps immidielty to mind is the fact Rage is probably going to take up multiple DVDs on the 360. I can see something that like Zenimax saying "no" to around manufacturing costs and forcing id to reduce the game size (i.e. the textures) to fit on one DVD.

On the one hand, it could be great. But bitter experiences teaches us chances are it won't be.

i think its going to be a good thing, if, as they say, ID Software will remain completely the same then having someone else to work with cant hurt.

Damn you scared the crap out of me, I thought no more great ID games :(

Glad nothing will change but while they say that now I highly doubt a buyout will all of a sudden not impact on any of the development of games.

Carmack just wants to finally get that rocket to space thing working!

I think more money to develop can never be a bad thing, especially if they stay true to their word and leave the studio intact.

I kind of liked Quake 4, to be honest. Much more than I like Doom3, which I still have to finished some day I can be bothered.
