I'm looking for a new gaming monitor, ideally 24" with a PVA Panel but trying not to spend too much, anybody seen anything around the £250 mark?,or is that just wishful thinking.
e-IPS is a possibility (not as good as PVA but better than TN), although we're probably talking 1920x1080 rather than 1920x1200. Something along the lines of a EA231WMi could be a good compromise - it's around your budget at least. I'm guessing you just want to avoid TN at all costs?
I suggest to look at the Dell 24inch U2410 (1920x1200) which comes pre-calibrated Adobe RGB and sRGB color profile, or the cheap version the 23inch (1920x1080), which has less inputs, no pre-calibrated colors, no picture in picture, the Dell U2311H. I have the Dell U2410, and it's a fantastic monitor. Watch out for specials. they are specials of 100$ or more on these monitors, especially on the 24inch. At the time I got mine, it was 750$ Can, and it was on special at 500$, and this where I got it. I already saw it a few months ago in the 420$ on special as well.
I have only bought 1 refurbished monitor and that was my 30" W3000H for $600 CAD. It was worth it since the monitor came just fine. You might want to look into a refurb product or something thats on sale. I really recommend IPS panels over VA.
Thanks for the advice everyone @ GoodBytes, the U2410 is a bit out of my budget (£370+Vat)and the U2311H doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere. @snootyjim,brilliant i've read a couple of reviews and this sounds perfect, even found somewhere that does it for under £300 posted,a bit over my budget but meh
How about this? http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?prodID=B285800&viewSpec=y&showold=#productTop I know it's a bit over your budget, but it's still a HP 24" IPS panel.
The new HP ZR24W (24" H-IPS 1600x1200) is almost £100 cheaper than the Dell U2410 and almost as good. Could be a viable alternative. Same monitor bestseany suggests, by the way.
I swear I saw a decent PVA 24" for about £200 somewhere on Bit-tech. Makes me feel good that my 24" PVA panel was only £160. (A Yuraku but don't bother becasue they've started putting TN panels in them)
There was a guy selling a Dell 2407WFP in the marketplace about a week ago, I don't know if he sold it or not.
Hmm,the HP ZR24W looks like a good one but a bit over my budget,I think I might go for the EA231WMi,again slightly over my budget but it sounds pretty impressive.
The only reason I recommended the ZR24W is because I like the look of it for myself. It does look pretty good though and it has some good reviews. Save up a bit longer and get that instead
