Ok well ive been looking at the base 128mb 6800 , i think its the vanilla version which apparently is easier to clock and has 12 Pipelines and 5 Vertex Shaders enabled instead of the 16 Pipelines and the 6 Vertex Shaders of the GT and Ultra versions , i was also looking at the x800 base 128mb version , what do you think id all be best to do?? , thnx :D

    X800XL is a great card!

Full 16 pipes, but lower clocks.

However, in just a short google trip you can learn how to unlock 16x6 on the 6800. However, if you want out of the box service, get a GT or X800XL.

X800XTs are cheaper then X800XLs over here - not sure about where you are but i'd check it out.

I'd get a 6800(vanilla) and unlock (if you can) + overclock.

unlocking the 6800 is risky as not always works out.
x800xt is the best card out of the ati ones if its the cheapest too, its a no brainer

Got that a couple of weeks ago, not attempted to unlock anything yet as its fairly r0x0ring by box as it is  I want to get some improved cooling first anyway, be interesting to see how yours goes.

I just got a 6800LE which is 8x4 default. unlocked to 12x6, 16 pipelines gave artifacts, and running 400mhz core and 900mhz memory atm. excellent card for the price imo.

you have to remember that if you're going to unlock it you definately want aftermarket cooling. I suggest the Zalman Vga 700CU i think.
