    Hello guys...
I'm just wondering if we think this is possible.

I am looking to build a fully featured htpc for £100
Must have a dvd drive, reasonable space for films, have a remote and look like audio equipment.

    I already have a socket 775 processor.
    and i have 2x 2gb sticks of Kingston KVR667D2D4P5/2G Ram - PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 ECC Registered with Parity CL5
    Can it be done?

Depends what quality of audio equipment you want. For my upcoming HTPC it's going to be a secondhand set of Altec Lansing 2.1 MX5021's.

Well the idea was initally to sell all of my audio equipment, onkyo amp and marantz dvd player so that i could get it all matching.
I quite fancy looking into the Cambridge audio stuff in black.

With CPU and Memory in hand i guess that leaves a small list!

Case - needs to look similar audio equipment
Motherboard - needs to support socket 775 and ddr2 memory
Graphics - Doesn't have to give out HDMI; just dvi will do (i have a dvi to hdmi converter)
Hard drive - big enough to support a few films.. would say 120gb+

Yeah, definitely possible mate, the hardest thing you'll find will be getting the case at a reasonable price.

Hey, would the Antec ISK 300- 150 suit your needs?
As you may know, they're normally £65, but I got one for £15 at Pcworld. If you want, next time I go to Scan, I'll pop there aswell and see if they have any back in at that price, if they do, would you like me to pick one up for you?

For £100 - you are going to need to hit the second hand market.

Would urge you to find one that does actually have HDMI out, for the simple fact that DVI doesn't carry audio signals.

Other then that... yup, second hand is the way to go for you. Also I would say it wouldn't be worth buying a new motherboard for a 775 socket... it's too old to buy new for.

Get yourself a well sized drive. And find some good audio equipment secondhand.

Have managed to bag myself a Gigabyte GA-VM900M - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2407#sp
Thanks to Snips! (free for postage!)

Have also managed to get myself a remote from Dynamis!
(apparently i have to watercool it.... )
Again thank you very very much!!

So all i have to actually buy.. is the case and a graphics card. Not bad effort!!
    :)
Whatever money is left over i plan to watercool it!

    Okay... another update!

I have the following bits enroute or in my hand!

    Gigabyte GA-VM900M Motherboard
    Pentium 4 - 3.00ghz
    2x 2gb sticks of Kingston KVR667D2D4P5/2G Ram
Asus EN210 512mb Passivly cooled graphics card (hdmi too)
    DVD RW - Sata
    Pinnacle MiniTV TV Card
PCI Wifi Card - Low profile bracket
    Novatech Vision Media Case
    Corsair H50 Watercooling Setup

    This lot came to - £105.33 :D
I have a 32GB SSD drive sat on my desk at work which i'm wondering if it should be used.
The majority of files and media will be on a network attached storage drive...

Would anyone be interested in a project log?
I can do this inconjunction to the shuttle mod as well :D

I'd say that SSDs are a must have for an HTPC (especially if you're housing the media file on a network drive).

Nice one for the price :thumb:

Nothing amazing - but some of my work so far!

Case arrived which is a novatech media case
    http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/cases/cases/nov-vision.html

    Bargain at 49.98
    [IMG]
Some interesting buttons on the front!
also.. its a nice feature to have brushed aluminium... looks lovely!
Case doesnt feel cheap at all

    Corsair H50 cooler fitted

So board in, power supply in and see what room i have to play with!

    Massive tangle of wires!
and the power supply fan is horrific!

    We can soon change that!!

    Fractal Design 80mm fan - 11 dba :D

Unfortunatly no pictures whilst the psu was apart.. perhaps next time!

    In all its glory!!

All the cables have been sleeved and some sticky pads added to control the cabling!

    Seems nice and civilised now!

Waiting on a Sata Dvd drive, Remote, Wifi card and SPDIF bracket which occupies the remaining 2 pci slots at the back.
Need to form some sort of bracket to hold the corsair radiator in place.

Total cost so far is £105.33
