News AMD demonstrates 24-core Istanbul Opteron server

    The main advantage AMD have is the upgrade ease.. Rather neat honestly

    You mean that same upgrade ease intel had when going from tigerton to dunnington?

    Well it was my understanding that AMD pretty much had the server market, I mean every where I go I see AMD based servers over that of Intel, at least here in Cali. Either way wow 24 core sheesh thats nuts, So like is both companies still going to stop after 32 cores and switch from Multi-core tech to Many-Core tech.

    Oh lol.

    Anyway, AMD owns the High-Performance market, Dunnington is basically no match for Istanbul. Intel's chips traditionally scale awfully - what's the use of six cores when the performance is closer to a dual-core?

The first video indicates the consistency of AMD's architecture and upgrade from the Quad-Core AMD Opteron Processors to Six-Core AMD Opteron Processors (Istanbul). The second video shows Istanbul running on a 2P virtualization platform, highlighting Istanbul's virtualization capabilities.
