Windows Battlefield 3 Alpha Trial

The alpha was DX9 only, with limited destruction and fixed graphics settings, it does not reflect how the final game will play on anyones machines. The beta should be more of a reference point.

 

correction... DX9 is not supported by frostbite 2.0.. DX10 is a minimum, one of the reasons is not supported by WinXP.

The alpha was in fact in DX10, DX11 may be seen in Beta, but nothing is confirmed at this point.

I received an invitation to try the Beta, I'll wait until the next week (Rig Upgrade) and I'll definitely try it.

 

I understand that the full game will be DX10 onwards, but i was under the impression that the Alpha was a DX9 build.

I read that the limited destruction in the alpha was a limitation of the DX9 build.

 

Not sure where you read that. There is no support what so ever on Frostbite 2 for DX9. The alpha was running DX10!

They removed most of the destruction in the Alpha due to stability issues. The whole point of the Alpha was to test server stability nothing more.

The game is still in Alpha Stage and is not available to buy yet. Its due to be released the end of October.

did you get the invite through your email address or through origin? is it because you own medal of honour? should be receiving mine soon too then

 

Some people say they received the keys at random others say it was because of their long standing veteran status and others say if you registered for the newsletter you got an invite!

 

I have played every DICE game since their first free mod for the original Battlefield. I have also bought every Battlefield game. I'm 46 perhaps that makes me a Veteran. Anyhow, I played the Alpha. It was okay but nothing special, purpose was to test the servers rather than show you what the new game would look like. Liked the maps though hope the theme rolls into the final version. Plus it is shut now so if you did not get an invite you only missed out for over a week. Back to FEAR3 for me, FETTEL.

The MoH access Beta is only a couple/few weeks away and a month until the public Beta. We all have to wait now

Unless you go to Gamescon, they're showing off Conquest mode there

 

They've changed a few things around.

MoH Access Beta is now simply "48 Hours Early Access" to the public beta, the same early access you get if you've preordered BF3 from certain retailers (Origin comes to mind).

The public beta is happening sometime in September.

 

Those who only bought MOH for the early beta access can't be happy about that.

 

I'm wondering if game.co.uk pre-orders will get the early access.

 

Really hope I can get something going like this... just built this computer and this game is one of the major reasons for my motivation to do so!

 

Aha! Cheers for the headsup. I got MoH for free a while back, so I'm not too fussed about the changes. It's still something to look forward to in any case.

Anyways, the Alpha is over and done with, perhaps we should move back to the main BF3 thread instead

 

Is the Alpha still up and running? I played last week but this weekend when i load BF3 through Origin it tryed to load the website through IE but doesn't find the page? Any idears or is the Alpha down?
