So for some reason mid way through a Skype call, my monitor developed an issue with several blue dots climbing up the screen in vertical lines. As this was a cheap monitor from a charity shop, I wasn't expecting the earth. I think I may have had it 2 months absolute tops. I have tried unplugging and reconnecting the vga lead, at both monitor and PC end. It is going through a DVI adapter, but I personally doubt it could be that, but I'll check it later.

Picture (hopefully) attached to show you what I mean.

This could be the graphics solution in your computer, not the monitor. You need to try this monitor on another computer or your computer with another monitor. If the problem follows the monitor to the 2nd computer, you know it is the monitor. If the 2nd monitor does the same thing on your computer, you know the problem is in your computer.
