    Hi,

Yesterday i came home to find my internet speed at 500kbps, It should be 20meg (On Virgin via cable). i naturally assumed i was being capped - even though i havnt downloaded an excessive amount or anything.

today same problem although it was up to 1meg, after going through the usual processes of resetting modem and router, checking connections, firewalls etc still no joy.

I plugged my laptop into the network ran a speed test and its gets 19megs, plugged it straight back into my main pc and back down to 1meg.

so it seems to be computer specific, i needed to format anyway so i decided that doingt that and giving me a "fresh" start might work, ofc it didn't

I have tried to connect the main pc directly to the modem bipassing my router but same speeds were present.

Main pc is running windows 7 ultimate on a fairly decent machine

    Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) )
    System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology
    System Model: P35-DS4
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
    Memory: 4096MB RAM
    Available OS Memory: 4094MB RAM

And my laptop is running on XP service pack 3.

Any help would be really appreciated :)
