I wanted to upgrade my monitor from a pitiful 21" to something bigger. I have a GTX 670 4GB that has a moderate OC on it. I've either decided to get two 23" monitors at 1080p a piece or get a single large monitor at 2560x1440. I cannot find any online benches for this card on dual monitors. What performance can I expect before I decide to do anything?
If this is for gaming I would recommend a single monitor. 2560x1600 benches would give you similar results to two 1080p screens.
Gaming on two screens would be terrible - one large screen all the way. A 670 would struggle on newer games on max though
+1. Get a decent single screen for gaming and use the other as an extended display (windows key + P) when multitasking.
I would vouch for getting a single monitor, I tried gaming on dual screen once it was an awful experience. I currently have a 670 Cheesecake 2GB with a Dell U2711 2560x1440, it will run pretty much every game on max settings apart from maybe the very latest but even then scaling some things back still looks great due to the relatively high dpi and the fact its an IPS panel. So yer single screen all the way. Unless you can wait and go for the Oculus rift for gaming since the reviews seem to say its good, thats what I am waiting on Edit:- There is also the possibility of going for 4k from Dell in a few months if you can afford it. i would probably say wait for the 27in panel depending on the quality of it from reviews.
At the last time of trying it wasn't even possible unless you went Matrox. Nvidia certainly don't let you link two monitors into one, only three. Games certainly do not offer the option of 1920x2 x1080.
