I really like the atmosphere and the concepts in the first one. And the music...It really creeped me out.
I'd love it if this one is as good as the first :D
(And I hope for a better ending than the first one too :sigh:)

I thought the first game also had a great atmosphere and it was really dark, I was actually hoping Tim Burton would get some influences from this game, but alas he made a lame movie instead, not being as dark as it should have been :(

There was a movie adaptation of the first game in the making with Sarah Michelle Gellar as Alice but it was cancelled. I think the director died or something.

Burton was making his version either just after or at the same time...

The original was one of the more original and interesting pieces of thinking that computer games have ever provoked, so I very much doubt they'll be able to come up with anything worthwhile now, in a world where everything has to be suitable for six year olds who barely know how to grasp their xbox controllers.

The original was weird. I think I only played a demo.

Loved the first one. Looking at the teaser on the official site, it seems they're going for a more "horror" approach. I hope they still manage to create a strong atmosphere like the first one and not just rely on formulated scaring methods.

Wiki says copies of the original game are selling for over $100.

I absolutely loved the first one, even contributed to the walkthrough on Planet Alice back when it existed. The level design was simply awe-inspiring, and the dilogue was just outstanding, some wicked quotes. What other game would describe your run-of-the-mill double damage powerup thus:

"How fine you look when dressed in rage. Your enemies are fortunate that your condition is not permanent. And you're lucky too: Red eyes suit so few."

It was on the first generation unreal engine. I loved it, have high hopes for this unexpected follow up.

Oh hell yes! Bring it on.
The only games I owned for YEARS was this and the Half-Life series,
and it was MORE then enough to keep me into PC gaming.
I was stoked when I heard about the movie project ages ago too.
And that Sarah Michelle Gellar was going to be Alice. (Buffy / Grudge)
Not because she was the "best" for the role,
but because she knows her way around demons and scary ****.
So again: Hell yes. Bring it on.

It was on the Quake 3 engine actually, one of the very first Q3-engine licensees.
