News EVGA has a naked, watercooled GeForce 9800 GX2

In partnership with Innovatek, EVGA shows off a new waterblock that cools two GPUs and both sets of memory in one.

 

Thats a awesome looking motherboard.

 

for the price Innovatek charges for their coolers (the 9800GX2 one is like 180 euro in their online shop) and even more so with the hefty premium evga slaps on their watercooled produts I would except nothing less massive copper.

 

That is indeed a bloody amazing looking setup.
Of course I'll never be able to afford it, but here's hoping for a big bit-tech competition

 

What was going on at the MSI booth?

 

Sooo... When can I buy one of these 9800GX2s?

 

Am very interested in the fully watercooled mobo, however id have expected to see copper water blocks on the 9800GX2, hope the mobo is copper under them shiny silver blocks.
Also surely EVGA could make a nice black cover for the watercooled 9800GX2, like the standard covers but just modding the top a little for the block to poke out, would make it a lot less ugly.

These 9800GX2s are looking real slick! It's neat to see how the design of the PCB has changed to accomodate two holes for better airflow!

 

Whats the focus of the 6th picture? Is it a new CPU and chipset cooler?

 

And PSU cooler, it looks like. There's certainly a plate there where in many cases the PSU could be sat (apart from the popular P180!)

 

omg, is the one on the right the reference case for the 9800GX2? That is one ugly looking card....

 

well I knew there would be a water cooled version of this card as that was more logical them coming up with a newer air cooled version but Im sure that will be on the way. Hmm interesting...

I mean, they could have jiggled the end of the card around, made it shorter (and look better) and actually do some work for their money

Plus it would be a great excuse to buy one - "but honey, the one without watercooling wont fit my case"

 

Is that enormous block truly necessary?

 

I'm guessing the 2 chips point in?

Therefore the block needs to be big enough to fill the gap between the 2 cards

 

Hm. What I can't figure out is why they didn't route the watercooling barbs into the spot vacated by the fan. At least put something, even bare alu, there.
