    You don't really need a graphics card these days for that... If you got a Sandy/Ivy Bridge or Haswell system, you good to go. In case of other systems it isn't that clear cut, can you tell us more about your HTPC system ?

    I'm using an old core duo system to be the heart of the system, it hasn't got HDMI, so I need a graphics card.

    Budget?

    If you're not gaming get one of the cards that only draws power from the mainboard.

    Something inexpensive that has an HDMI output. No gaming, media player only.
