I have the EK water block that cools the vrms on my Asus maximus xii formula z490 motherboard, there are 4 barbs that screw on the vrm and cpu blocks with a rubber o ring, the way it's fitted is you remove a screw from the vrm block and slide it then you lube the barbs they did Inc some grease but there is not enough press down then slide over the top part then replace the screw and tightin. So what grease can I use for it. Thanks
I've been using a high quality silicon grease on 0 rings for years. If the fitting has been connected and in use for more than a couple of months I also replace the 0 ring whenever the fitting is removed.
Would recommend a silicone grease over a petroleum based grease - they can sometimes cause o-rings to break down (depending on o-ring material, petroleum products will attack natural rubber).
Second a silicone grease, I use a specialist silicone grease for vacuum o-rings and they're good for years.
I always use "Team Associated Green Slime". No kidding, that is the brand name. It is made for greasing RC car shock absorber o-rings. I grease all fittings with this and tubes slide in like a breeze. Should work for your purpose too...
Thanks for the help,I contacted ek and they said there should be plenty of thermal paste had to reply it's not that I need duh. So I've ordered a small tube of silicone grease was only £2.50
I've never watercooleed but when servicing brake calipers and replacing the o-rings we use plumbers silicon grease too. Link to the tube i'm about to use in the next hour
