Modding Hard disk idea (ugly pics added)

Maybe you could line the foam with tin foil?



Or something else that conducts heat better...

 

Done! The enclosure is up and working, the hard drive is a lot quiter and temps are the same as the drive without enclosure.

He he ... i don't have a decent digital camera so i have to wait until i get one or i may use a normal camera and tranfer pics on a disk...anyway SOON

 

umm wont the sound just travle through the heat sink and the fins of the heatsink act as nice little speakers

 

Some noise can still be heard but the drive is a lot quiter than before.

 

......in addition i've put a layer of thermal compound on the top of the drive and perhaps this may absorb part of the noise somehow
