I considered it as well haha.

At this point im waiting patiently until it works with the new 300mbs BT connection. as currently i can only use infinity 2 as i just have to use an old openreach modem and the rest is mine.

    G.fast or FTTP?

I'm on the latter and no issues with the openreach Huawei ONT. And I don't think you'll ever be able to use your own GPON terminal.

I think it was FTTP as they said i would need a new socket installing and such in the house. And i dont mind not having my own GPON terminal. I would like the solution to be as invisible as it is now for me which is just into the Openreach white box modem. then the Wan goes into the unifi router and its all gravy.

A sweet has never confused me more.

    That's kind of right.

With FTTP a fibre comes into your house along an external wall of your choosing provided it's within ~130m of the splitter (under the street), this is then plugged into a GPON terminal that's either attached to the external wall where it pops in, or very close to it. The box itself isn't particularly small or subtle - https://www.ournetwork.openreach.co.uk/resources/site1/General/Downloads/ONT Factsheet.pdf

Somewhere in a cupboard is probably the best place, and then you just need to get an ethernet cable to your router.

It's not in any way connected to your copper master socket, or it's location.

It has a single ethernet port on it and should work with any router that talks PPPoE.

Yeah, they're pretty weird. Nice, but weird.
@adidan , they are Skittles with a bit of spiciness added. Quite the oddity.

My latest was a sander and chisel for my table, but I also picked up a 1080 Ti. Couldn’t resist the upgrade itch. It had to be scratched. :D

Yeah.. weird.. I don't think I'll be repeating the experience. I like spicy, don't get me wrong, but it was so disconcerting getting a teeth-screaming jolt of sugar followed by a spice tingle. Not sure I like the combination.

    Not that I know of!

I rarely buy games not far from their release but I just picked up Shadow of the Tomb Raider so my PS4 doesn't feel like it's just used for iplayer/nowtv and blurays.

Oh and with a £10 ebay voucher and £2.50 cashback bonus it's not that pricey anyway :)

3 nights over Christmas in a cottage in Bethesda, just south of Bangor.

Really looking forward to getting away over Christmas. It's only the other side of Wales so it's not exactly that far away, but it'll be nice to have just the two of us.

I kind of wish I had gone for a 500 not a 250, but I'll probably end up sticking a tb one in the back slot at some point and do away with sata drives completely.

Particularly that part of Wales, too. I went through Snowdonia on my trip around the coast [of Wales] in February and there are some simply breathtaking views around there. Particular highlight was following the A5 from Capel Curig out towards Bangor:

The road winds it's way down a valley between Carnedd Llywelyn and Glyder Fawr, and it's jaw-dropping stuff. I've already told the other half that we have to take the same route I did through Snowdonia when we drive up there :thumb:.

Simplifying and upgrading in the office... I've been using USB from the dock to a Chord Mojo, through a bunch of adaptors to a pair of Tannoy Reveal Active monitors. Sounds great, but issues around the double-use of the DAC as desktop and on the go (it runs out of juice, or nearly does, and then I pop it in my bag and it's dead, or I forget to pop it in my bad entirely.

Thinking I'll pair them with a NAD D3045 when I can have a listen to one.

Aye, love that area, had a few trips out that way when I was younger as my Auntie lived on the side of a hill in Dolgellau.

Irwin Record woodwork vice. You can still buy things that are well enough made and solid enough, so they last long enough to pass-on to Grandchildren.
