That's the way to go ... crazy, insane, mad. I'd love to see an Halloween contest (or any other theme restrained contest : Space, Mythology, etc.).

Only 2 days left ... lot's of work ahead :wallbash:

EDIT : Thanks to everyone involved in this contest :thumb:

Yes I used some "ready" parts only to illustrate how I was thinking, if you prefer that I don't use it just give me a heads up. :)

Did the power switch (the red one), door open/close switch (the blue one), 4x USB ports and 2x 3.5mm jack connectors.

I've added a fill port directly built-in the copper top radiator

EDIT : Just realized that I did erase the chassis instead of hiding it (fortunatly I can import it from a backup) :wallbash:.

@eeced - :thumb: It looks ready to fly.

@Guille - Numbered backups at major stages of the build have saved my butt more than once.

Reworked the external bigmutha rad. What do you think of it (do not pay too much attention to the frame around the rad, it's not finished) ?

@Danitgeek - The details are lost without the lines turned on.:( The 120X2 in the top looks dinky.

Here is my final entry : CU-932

HAF a tonne of copper, HAF air cooled, HAF water cooled ... but not HAF cool. 100% cool

    - Fit a quad-opteron 12-cores and its quad-opteron 12-cores expansion board (96 cores crazyness)
    - 6x hot-swap HDD bay
    - 6x HDD activity LED (1 per drive)
    - Motorized HDD door
    - 2x 220mm intake fans
    - 3x 120mm exhaust fans (2x top fans, 1x back fan)

    - full copper top acting like a passive rad
    - massive surrounding passive rad (3m² of dissipating surface)
    - Quick disconnect connector to connect the rad to the case (easy maintenance)

My entry didn't change since I posted it the first time back then -> http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=2709774&postcount=171

Modding a case should allways keep the basic case recognizable imho. If you don't like a case to start with, then you either buy another one or make one from scratch.

Nevertheless, some good concepts as allways in here.

I'm not sure if i am able to enter this contest being I am new to this site but i made a design anyway if its not eligible to enter that's cool it was fun to do anyway.

    I call it HAF ROD

I designed it after the front end of an old school hot rod and tried to keep it to something that would actually be able to be built in regards to cost and still somewhat resemble the original case.
There are 2x 200mm fans behind the front grill, the air cleaner intakes on top are for the cpu radiator, and the hot air from the rad exits through the exhaust pipes.

The power and reset buttons are located on the rear of the case along with the fan controller.
I changed the top psu mount into an extra exhaust vent.

On the inside the big box on the top houses the radiator and fans. The graphics card covers match the color of the outside of the case, the wire management holes are trimmed in aluminum, and the custom cpu water block is made to look like a finned valve cover with the tall style valve cover bolts to hold it on. i left the stock hard drive rack because it seemed to go well with the case .

Hope you guys like it good luck to all who enter.

most definitely not your average 32 ford :)
those HDD sleds would look great styled like an old halibrand quick change diff or some such.

    Sick design, love it :D

I agree with you and this is why I did the piece of wood (covering the top and front of the case) shaped as the original HAF-932 (large chamfers on the front edges and a platform on the top).

I replaced the front 5.25" bay cover by a vented wood plate since I do not use them on any of my PC.

I see... so who's this Julian and how can I contact him so I can get his calendar?

@Gearheaddan : I like red, I must make a red case once I can get my hands on a decent one (case that is). Thx for the inspiration. :)

PS. Joking about the julian calendar. :p

    Good stuff!:D
We had a pretty light turnout this time. -Of course the open format comps bring in a lot of stuff people were already designing.
