well the particular scope i got was really rather affordable. cost me around $570 CAD including our sales tax here of %13.

My previous post indicated how much the teelescope cost me. I paid around $570 Canadian for it. That included the T ring but not the camera.
thanks. It did require some touch ups in lightroom but i am psyched for some good weather to go out and some more snapping when the moon is in another phase.
i will do my best but i live in Ottawa which has bloody awful weather this time of year for lugging a telescope out. it's either clear or freaking cold or nice out temperature wise and over cast and rainy. Not sure when i am going to get a chance to lug it outside (it weighs around 50 lbs plus camera gear.) but this for sure will not be my last picture with it.
I can only encourage you doing it again (and again and again and again). Absolutely amazing picture and I'd love to see more.
awesome man. you will enjoy it. Also one thing to consider when purchasing a scope (especially when using it to take photos) make sure it has an equitorial mount. This is much more important than the scope it self as it will align the scope with the poles more easily and makes for better panning when doing long exposure (more than 2 minutes). I am psyched about the spring/summer so i can start to go out and take some more pictures. Unfortunately the winters here would make a very unpleasant experience expect more shots in the spring/summer. I am also contemplating getting a solar filter for my scope so i can do some solar photography as well.

I have the same scope and mount as you, so I can only imagine you did too. Did you use mirror lock up? I didn't... in retrospect... perhaps I should have.
Nice shot BTW. In regards to camera shake. Initially i did. I thought to my self who i was going to accomplish this without a remote trigger as i did not have one at the time. I instead used the self timer since it's not like the moon is just going to spontaneously disappear . I set my timer to a 2 second delay and it seemed to work fine. But i recommend getting a remote trigger they really help in these types of night shots. (works for fireworks shot as well.) But they can be pricey it depends on the camera. For me the trigger for my older rebel xt (350d) was only $30 but the one for my 50d was $100.
Very nice guys, your making me want to start a new astro-photography hobby here! Also you can get off brand remote switches for about $20. I picked one up for my 40D for about that. Its beyond me why Canon had to change the plug type for the remote switches on their bodies, they are all electronic.
I have a IR remote for the D7000.... just no bloody battery for it!! Yeah, astro-imaging is addictive. When you want to start imaging deep space stuff though, be prepared for major expense. BTW LCD guy... I have the same mount, but your tripod legs look way more substantial than mine. Did you ask for that tripod, or did it just come with it?
