    Hey guys,

I need a new set of speakers for my room/flat at uni. It is a small room but I do like good quality sound. I used to have a set of Logitech Z10 2.0 and they were great however they did slightly lack in base.

I am looking to spend under £50~60 and they should/must:

Have a good volume without distortion.
Be at least 2.1 (unless a great set of 2.0 is recommended)
Be relatively compact although that isn't the biggest concern
Connect with at least an audio jack (3.5mm headphone jack) and maybe optical aswell.

What can you guys recommend? Ive looked at these. Altec Lansing Octane 7 2.1 they look good and I have them at work, sounds great, but not sure if there is anything better out there?

    Cheers Guys

    Matt

You will get a lot of love for Microlab in here, as an owner of a pair of SOLO6Cs I can recommend them quite highly, the volume can be put up pretty loud without distortion, and have good clarity for the price.

Well, I'm a stereo-addict, not caring too much about surround-sound.

I've most recently bought the Cerwin-Vega! XD3 to have a pair of speakers I can easily carry around and use with a MP3-player. It's a great set of small active stereo-speakers with a good range.
They're rather cheap aswell for what they offer.
