Case Mod - In Progress Shazbom Waterworld 2 : Mod + Paint + New Build

The Shazbom Waterworld is back again. This time I’m planning to mod it a bit and Spray Paint it Matte Black. I've bought new pc parts for it too. Hope it turns out good. =)
We are going water on the CPU, Full Motherboard Block and 2x GPUs.

GPU: 2x Asus 4870x2
Sound: Asus Xonar D2X Sound Card
SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 240GB
HDD: 2x Western Digitel RE3 500GB on Raid 0
Drive: LG Blu-Ray
PSU: Kingwin Mach 1000W

Water-cooling

CPU: Ek Supreme HF Copper & Plexi
Mobo: EK-FB RE3 Copper & Plexi
GPU: Danger Den Blocks Copper & Plexi
Rads: 2x TFC 360mm Radiator
Res: XSPC Dual Bay 5.25 D5 Reservoir
Pump: MCP-655 D5 Pump
Fans: 6x 80mm + 6x 120mm Enermax Magma Red + Black Fans
Cables: Pre Sleeved Cables from before and some Shakmods.

Couldnt do much today.. only tried the etch primer i bought yesterday on 1 part for testing.

Didn't take too many pictures because hands were too dirty, didn't wanna kill my Nikon D80 lol. Got the final 1s tho..

good start on the painting, hope you dont have too many internal mods to do as you have already painted, suppose its nothing that a bit of tape cant sort. will be watching

 

Thanks mate.. The case was already fully modded in my last project. all the cable holes and holes for 2 x 360 radiators are all there. i've acutally file them down abit before i prime them.
It turn out nice.. Photos coming soon..

 

I waited almost a day for the paint to dry before i put the case together.

 

omg i'm soo dead now.

i was ready for the build today and guess what happened..

i found out i lost my i7 990x cpu. i actually accidently shipped out my 990x cpu to someone who bought my i7 970 cpu on ebay. i've wrote to the buyer already. i hope he's a generous man and swap the cpu back with me. he's just 10 miles from me so i dont mind driving down.

Chassis looks good, is there anything you have to do when painting matte black to help protect the paint from chips etc?

 

jeckulz thanks. I wrote a message to the buyer just now, i sent him a link of this page and he called me just now. he said come down tomorrow morning and pick up your cpu..
man.. its like christmas for me now..lol

@stem83 i didnt do much to the case, it is getting scratched very easily. what can i do to make the color not scratch off so easily?

 

How many coats did you apply?

 

i started like this.

> Hand Sand all the parts, then sprayed 2 coats of Etch Primer
then waited for 24 hours and sprayed 3 coats of matt black on it

Its been almost 3 to 4 days now but its still getting scratched very easily.

Can anyone help me here? am i useing the wrong primer or paint?

Where was it left to dry?
If it was cold, this can cause paint to become brittle and flakey.
Best to dry somewhere of atleast room temp if possible.
Or it could be cheap paint.

 

I agree with Jeckulz. What brand paint are you using?

 

@jeckulz - i left it in the washroom to dry, now i'ts in my bedroom. I dont think its that tho, i think i must be missing somthing or my paint is not for painting cases. But still, its not that bad. i'll put more photos soon.

@dream1 - thanks.. i got my cpu back this morning. The guy was really nice, he said he couldn't sleep last night thinking about it. he had to give me back he said.. thanks to him again.

@fuganater - i have a photo up there showing the sprays i used. paid £7 for each spray.

 

got update for you guys..


Received a big carton from ek today.


If i'm not wrong i'm the first 1 who bought the re3 full copper + plexi block. They just had few in stock and i bought the first 1.. =)
The second block is for my dominator rams, its also full copper + plexi block.


I think most of my parts are here. Gpu's and cpu are on my table tho.. i cant find the 990x box and old boxes for the 4870x2's are also gone.
