Is it just me or are Bit pages/forums loading really slowly lately? It's been like this for a couple of days.

Experienced it on multiple devices on different connections.

We're aware of it and looking into it. It seems someone is constantly spamming the site pages which is degrading performance. The main site now seems to be fixed but the forums are still suffering.

I even resorted to asking isup.me about it this morning. They said Bit was down.

Thanks @MLyons, I've noticed it was sluggish this last day or so.
There seem to be a couple of new spammy looking forum members randomly commenting on old threads too...
    Go get'em boy

I think I've fixed it. *grumbles about not having fully migrated to EPYC yet

@MLyons I can't get to the forum using my Waterfox Classic (2020.09) browser. Worked fine yesterday. I am getting 403 Forbidden message.

Currently using Chrome which I hate. Works in Palemoon, Firefox and Chrome.

Ahh, yes. The user agent of waterfox is wrong or old then. The spammers were using rotating user agents from old firefox versions. Mainly 3X and 4X so I had to block them temporarily. I'll have a look Monday to see if they've sodded off and I can remove the block.

    Cheers

I hate the all modern browsers. The ad blockers suck (whilelisted bit-tech before I get screamed at ;)), I have built in ftp client to upload to my servers in waterfox and you cant move the tabs below url bar on modern ones, or if you can its poncing about with css.

The waterfox classic allows me to to use legacy extensions but is still updated regularly for security.

Waterfox reports as FF56, prob because its based on it.

Anyhow, one user agent string edit later...
