Don't really care about Skype, but look forward to the Vita.

Is this different or the same as the PSP E1000?

The PSP E1000 is basically a slightly re-designed, WiFi-less version of the current PSP; the Vita is the next-gen, quad core, touchscreen console that won't be out till next year.

My psp 3000 works really well with skype as long as my wifi connection is at 40% or better, hell, sometimes I think the quality of the voice chat is better than my 3G blackberry. Don't see how putting it on the new Vita is a bad thing.

Not that I really care... but how do you use Skype on a device without wi-fi?

This isn't the same as the device mentioned in yesterday's article. The PSP Vita comes with Wi-Fi standard, 3G as an option.
