Can I swap out a corsair RM1000 for a corsair AX1200i or HX1200 without having to change all the cabeling in my case. thanks
as far as I can tell all the latest generation modular Corsair PSUs use the same cables, so you should be okay to just swap out the main unit...although why you would want to swap out a 1000w PSU for something bigger is beyond me!
Cheers for the reply. I'm currently runnnng dual xeons and three 780 ti's. So I thought it safer to go up to a 1200w psu. Though currently my 1000w is coping fine.
blimey! Have you considered buying your own power station to go with your new PSU? Might save you a few quid in the long run...
Risky. Although the RM1000 and HX1200 are built by the same manufacturer the AX1200i is a different one. There's never any guarantee that the pin-outs are the same even from the same manufacturer so it's important to test either with a PSU Tester or with a multimeter. Get it wrong and you could say goodbye to a lot of expensive kit.
Spoke to a corsair rep on their forums and he says you can swap these models out without changing the cables. Also if you look at the braided cable upgrade kits the RMs and HXis use the same kit. So this will save me some time, thank god.
