Have any of the "Test Drive" named games been any good? I remember the 23 year old "original" Test Drive:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61HHBCNc63E

And yes it was clever, but it was dull.

So have they ever put the name to a good game?

I was in the beta, I had to stop playing because it was so bad. I could tell it was a disaster in the making. The game is for casual players.

Absolutely spot on bit-tech. Had I reviewed this game on Friday I would've given it a 2. But after playing a bit I agree with the review. There IS some fun in this game, but the negatives outweigh the positives.

Ultimately, IMO its a game for people like my daughter, who can't wait to get a car and "go cruising". The rest of us drive real cars every day, and realise that cruising isn't fun anymore. What we want are games that are polished, exciting and draw you in. This doesn't.

I have described it before as "Sims 3 - Driving Mod" and I stick with this.
Thankfully Steam gave me my money back after 5 days, because I stated mis-advertising, saying this was not an "Authentic racing experience" as promised.

    Game - 4/10
    Steam - 10/10

TDU1 was on the PS2. TDU2 looks like it was designed for the PS2 as well. The only improvement to the graphics seems to be weather-related - the standing water on roads looks awesome.

Now that was a horrible review, so bad that you used TDU1 pictures in your review. How long did you play the game for? 1h? The game is good, worth a 7 at least.

this seems to be very much about expectations, people that expect this to be a simulation driving game with epic physics etc are inevitably disappointed, those that went in just expecting it to be a bit of a laugh they could play with their mates and mess about are having fun with it.

one could argue that of any game, if you go in expecting it to be something it's not you'll likely be disappointed, but that doesn't make the game bad. there's a market for games like this and i find it harsh to suggest that market is 15 year old girls

my male friends - some of whom drive in real life some of whom don't, are having a lot of fun with this game, and we all play more serious driving games, and we all play fun stuff like trackmania, there's a place for all of these

people need to review this on whether it delivers on what it's supposed to be delivering on not whether it has crysis like graphics and true to life car handling

TDU1 was on the 360 and PC, not sure if they did a PS2 version but it wouldn't be anywhere near the 360 or pc version graphically.

What a disapointment. I had so much fun playing test drive and test drive 2 on my Amiga 2000, back in the 90's.

The review is far too kind in my opinion. This is the worst game I've played since about 1986.

Originally (September 2006) TDU1 was released only on the 360. In March 2007 it was also launched simultaneously on the PS2 and PC. My comment was designed to answer the question "was it on the ps3?" but thanks for your input, which was invaluable.

Apologies if it wasn't made clear but we were reviewing the Xbox 360 version of the game, so we were talking about the graphics and performance of that version of the game.

Why does Bit-tech review consoles games when there is a PC version available anyway?!? Doesn't anyone else find that strange for a site that is PC orientated? :?

What a terrible, terrible review. It's all about Ibiza is it? Did the reviewer not realise there is a whole other island in the game. Hey, it's even mentioned in the options menus if he'd bothered to look.

That's the issue. The reviewer criticises the game for not being finished when it's clear that the review isn't finished either.

Lazy, unprofessional reviewing. I'm not sure how one has the arrogance to say that this game isn't finished when the reviewer hasn't even played the game properly.

Thanks for also mentioning the Casino, good job.

    3/10.

Sounds much like the first, I hated how the cars handled and got bored very quickly.

That's a good question mensioned above

Any chance of a pc review, as I really don't care what crysis 2 for example looks or plays like on a 360 when I'm buying on pc same with this, alot of people who have commented are playing the pc version which seems to be alot different to what you describe

I wish they didn't. No scratch that. How about a review including the PC as well? I'm not saying drop the 360 or PS3 etc just include the PC as well.

At the very least come up with a way of making it really obvious which platform a review is for. Like an obvious logo maybe?

You have the tab bar to reflect platforms (Which is a great nav, but not all that clear as a "This is where you are - don't forget it!" aid) but on this review it reverts to "All". Shouldn't it at least keep the 360 tab highlighted?

I've been enjoying it alot. Worth it just to sit in the Veyron and hear that low growl when the engines just ticking over and at £24.99 I feel MUCH better value than Dungeons was at £29.99!
