In Texas, it's against the law for anyone to have a pair of pliers in his or her possession.

In Philadelphia, you can't put pretzels in bags based on an Act of 1760.

Alaska law says that you can't look at a moose from an airplane.

The British love donkeys! In 2006 the British public gave a total of 20m to a donkey sanctuary.

Every year the average British family throws away 6 trees worth of paper

Thousands of Dutch school children and their parents spend four evenings in a row during May and June trudging through streets and along footpaths in huge processions, walking five or ten kilometres at a time. It's called the avondvierdaagse, or ‘evening four-day marches'.

At first I read that as "world's healthiest woman" and thought well that makes sense.

Napoleon died from arsenic poisoning while incarcerated on the island of Saint Helena (not Elba, as is commonly thought). However, doubt exists whether the cause of death was due to the use of copper arsenite as a pigment in wallpaper of the time (bear in mind that wallpaper was only for the rich and famous; the poor people had to make do with various shades of mud to decorate their hovels).

The arsenic could have been liberated through a combination of damp and microbial action, but tests show that Napoleon already had high levels of arsenic in his body before he even got to Saint Helena - because a large number of other materials and processes from the time also involved the use of arsenic.

Strangely enough, the autopsy of Napoleon didn't actually mention arsenic at all - this is a modern theory - but it is more likely that he died of TB or complications arising from stomach cancer, although it's never possible to be sure as no histological samples of either the lungs or stomach were taken at the time.

Well, you've got to give the guy a medal for bravery or something. As methods of losing weight goes, it's certainly one that most people would sign up to (well, perhaps not with a 600lb partner, but you get my drift)!

In Georgia, it's against the law to spread a false rumor.

In West Virginia, one can't cook sauerkraut or cabbage due to the odors and the offence is subject to imprisonment.

In Missouri, a man must have a permit to shave.

Your ribs move about 5 million times a year, every time you breathe!

Owls are one of the only birds who can see the color blue!

There wasn't a single pony in the Pony Express, just horses!

Each year, more people are killed by teddy bears than by grizzly bears.

The attendance at amusement parks increases after a fatal accident has occurred.

There's a fair few that see blue, almost all nocturnal birds can see the colour blue as well as an Emu, Ewe, Ostrich, most hummingbirds, and most birds which live on insects.

Most birds can see 200 more shades & colours than humans. :)
A pony back then was any horse under the age of 6.
So in those days, there were ponies in the Pony Express.

In Alaska it is illegal to whisper in someone’s ear while they're moose hunting.

The bat is the only mammal that can fly.

The leg bones of a bat are so thin that no bat can walk.

Some male songbirds sing more than 2000 times each day.

The only mammals to undergo menopause are elephants, humpback whales, and human females.

Xenophobia was a major cause of the boshin war. The shogunate opened Japan to foreigners while the imperial supporters were disgusted by these 'barbarians'.

A survey showed that people found it easier to tell lies than tell the truth
