usb date cable for phone problem

    im not sure in what category this goes in so admins feel free to move it too an apropiate category.
    i bought a usb data cable for my siemens A60 and i have installed the driver for it and i have installed the software to actually connect to my phone but i never connects any ideas what it could be?

    I bought one for my nokia6100 and installed some serial-usb driver thing that came with it and about a million others but i could never get it to work.
