We are sitting on a few options. The long list is Shanghai, Melbourne, Tel Aviv, north of London, Chicago, LA, or possibly São Paulo. Melbourne is looking less likely due to business reasons, São Paulo less likely due to language reasons (business, not living), I'm not too keen on London due to the weather, and LA is out because my mom lives there (my rule is that there needs to be at least 8 hours flight time between her and I). Short list is Shanghai, Tel Aviv, London and Chicago. It depends a lot on how long my wife's assignment will be and what the direction her career will be taking.
This. Indian, born in India, currently living and studying in California, USA but frequently in Delhi, Munich, London, and Bangkok.
yeah, friends and I were talking about a road trip across the states to go to california. It would be amazing (and extremely expensive) It's either that or we go to Tomorrowland 2011
Another one for Washington state, USA! Due west across the water from Seattle, for those who are familiar with the area. On the sub-topic of travels, a quick trip to Quebec along the border was eye opening. Totally different than British Columbia. Hard to believe it's the same country!
Very interesting. Are you comfortable sharing what your wife does for a living? And is this what allows you the opportunity to move around so much? I'm genuinely curious, as I'm getting rather tired of living here, and have been casually looking around a bit.
I wish I could put a true Bristolian accent into text, then I'd describe where I live. Namely I'd talk about this new fangled housing not being here before and destroying all the lovely fields. That said, I've moved around Britain several times and was born in Germany so I'm far from being a true Bristolian.
My mum is Indian, and my Dad English (Although he was born in Trinidad. Go figure). I was born in the UK however. Strongly considering relocating to either Australia or America later in life.
Devon, where sir francis drake left to defeat the armarda woo, I don't like it here, it's 2 quiet, and i don't know anyone, Hopefully move to America later in life.
Take the quiet as a blessing man, too many times have I been awoken by ambulances, fire dept, the armed fuzz, drunks fighting....sheesh the list goes on.
I am currently living in Chandler, Arizona, USA ... sorry for the double post but my original post in this thread took quite a while to get approved and I thought it just must have had a problem getting submitted.
She is currently the the General Manager of Marketing for GM in Southern Africa; handling Chevrolet, Opel and Isuzu. She started with GM in Dubai as the Brand Manager for Saab and Cadillac after a 2 year stint with McKinsey&Co there. Edit: To answer your second question, that is a tad harder. Yes, her current job and career path is what is currently allowing us to shift home bases every 2-4 years. Before that, it was a different job. Before that, it was yet a different job. We both grew up as ex-patriots and this is a life style we are comfortable with and we relish the unique challenges it presents. Tbh, while she loves her job and the career path it provides her, if it came down to moving permanently to the US or leaving the company; we would choose the latter. Lucky GM's international HQ is in Shanghai, and she is an international hire. Had she chosen to join the company in the US, we might not be in the same position since the GM US is in a completely different mindset and financial position. The downside is I have to wait to get my Camaro.
Hold on for Melbourne, man. It's worth it Weather in Chicago sucks too. It has two seasons, too freakin hot and too freakin cold. Wish I had all those options Hey Wicked, I'm in in Bellingham. We may have to do a Bit Washington meet some time.
