hey people just a quick question where in the uk(preferably online) can i get a g1/4" bspp tap?? thanks in advance josh
Here you go, 1/4" BSP Tap. BSP = BSPP BTW, the correct hole size is 11.8mm if you didn't already know.
That's a through-hole tap btw. If you need a blind-hole tap it has the cutting edges in a spiral configuration.
huh? i need it for tapping holes in tubing that i will be using for some reservoirs im making. if you can point me in the right direction for the kind of tap/tap wrench i need for this that would be great.
awesome thankyou! just to make sure it wont be going all the way through the tubing so will it still be a through tap that i need?
Oh sorry about that. I should have stopped to think. You definately need a through-hole tap as you want to make holes in a reservoir wall etc. and not thread a hole in solid material.
They're actually pretty hard to find in europe despite obviously being a british standard. Anyway have fun making the res', can't wait to see the result.
At least here in Finland it's not too hard to find them if you know where to look. Here's one I found: http://www.toolpoint.fi/index.php?mod=tuotteet&group=188&setMemo=show_product2298:1#p2298 It says something like this: YG thread G1/4, through-hole, 24.50€ Pipe thread tap TC727 for threading through-holes. DIN5156. HSS-E. With carving front-cut. That'd be about £17.60 so I'm guessing you can get one in the UK for the same price.
